Commercial Description:
Brewed with Pumpkin and Spices(Cinnamon,Nutmeg,Cardamom,Cloves). This 8.0% ABV pumpkin ale is heartier, spicier, and more caramelly and pumpkiny than its faint brethren! Perfect finisher on a cool autumn night, or match it up with a slice of pumpkin pie and fresh whipped cream. If you don't agree this is the mother of all pumpkin ales, then you just don't like mothers!

(Rating #2413)

Thanks daknole. Pours a hazy dark amber. Thin, dissipating white head, some lace. Abundant, lasting aromas of nutmeg, clove, and orange peel. Flavor adds some caramel malts to the spice profile, brown sugar; also allspice, nuts, almost a meatiness here. There is a pumpkin earthiness underneath it all, but the spices are prevalent. Medium body, potent warming mouthfeel.

Pumpkin beer ain’t my thing. Poured orange with white head. Aroma of pumpkin and cinnamon. Pumpkin with a cinnamon twist flavor.

Location: Updating my rating with a 12 oz bottle from jcos, 11/10/09

Aroma: The aroma is lots of spice, with lots of strength, pumpkin, nutmeg, caramel, and booze are all very present
Appearance: It pour a slightly hazy darkish amber color with a bit of off-white head
Flavor: The taste is quite a bit of spice malts, with the typical seasonal notes, quite nice
Palate: This beer has a lot of body, and a great mouthfeel
Overall Impression: Only a few months back I called myself not a huge pumpkin beer guy? I can’t really explain that, I guess it had been a while since fall, but I really like this style. I think my real point was that this is much better then the average pumpkin beer. Well, now that fall is ending again, I can say for sure I am a pumpkin beer guy, and I rated this beer too low. It is great, a wonderful beer. It has tons of flavor, characterized by the spice notes, and just all in all works really well. What a great beer. For that, this one goes up quite a bit, and the old rating was pretty darn good.

Location: 12 oz Bottle from Norm’s Late Summer ’08

Overall Impression: Not a huge pumpkin beer guy, but this one is really tasty and smooth. Has a great nose. Got it right at the end of summer, enjoyable way to start off the fall beer season. (Old Rating: 3.9)

I just don’t like nutmeg. Cloves are nice in Belgian, but when they are the dominant flavor, they can get real old real quick. Case in point: this beer. Pours cloudy amber with no head. Flavor is mild with notes of nutmeg and cloves. Covers the alcohol well, but other than that its what I would like to refer as "bad."

Pours a light amber, slightly cloudy with close to no head. Aroma is heavily caramel/brown sugar, pumpkin and nuts. Not much spice just pure pumpkin notes. Flavor is like the pulp of a pumpkin with sweet sugar notes. Alcohol present, body is light yet creamy with little carbonation.

bottle - Pours amber-orange with a thin head. It smells just like a good pumpkin pie with the pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves all coming through nicely. Even after the empty bottle sat around for a week on my desk it still smelled that way. Yum. The flavor is sweet and also full of pumpkin and spice. It’s full bodied and the 8% abv is buried. The flavor isn’t quite as good as the aroma, but it’s still a very tasty autumn brew.

This is one of my favorite pumpkin beers. It pours amber with a very thin head. There is little to no lacing. It smells of nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon. The is easy on the palate and masks the alcohol very well. I feel that it is much better on draught but is still solid from the bottle. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to try a pumpkin beer.
