Commercial Description:
Brewed with Pumpkin and Spices(Cinnamon,Nutmeg,Cardamom,Cloves). This 8.0% ABV pumpkin ale is heartier, spicier, and more caramelly and pumpkiny than its faint brethren! Perfect finisher on a cool autumn night, or match it up with a slice of pumpkin pie and fresh whipped cream. If you don't agree this is the mother of all pumpkin ales, then you just don't like mothers!

Pours a pure copper with a huge white head that takes its time. Lacing throughout. Smells like I just stuck my nose in a freshly baked pumpkin pie. Wow! Pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnimon, delicious smelling. Dove right into this and it didnt dissapoint. All that is in the smell along with a touch of clove and some other spice. Feels medium in the mouth with a tickle of carbonation. Oh what I would do to have a slice of pumpkin pie right now to compliment the beer. ABV is non existant. Compared to the other pumpkins Ive tasted, I know why they called this Imperial. A delicious treat that must be tried if you like the kind.

Thanks to Jasonmech77 for this bonus beer. Pours orangey brown, hazy, with a long lasting beige head. Looks great. Unfortunately, this is overspiced from the getgo. Aroma of brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnemon, coriander, cardmon (I had some handy to make sure!), basically the spices they put in the beer. First glass smelled like Ivory Soap too, but the second glass minimized this, but was stil tart smelling in a soapy way. Not directly pumpkiny. Tastes similar with a dry woody tartness, but brown sugar notes come first. Again, overly spiced here, while coming off as only vaguely pumpkiny. Finishes slightly astringent, seemingly bitter, and then it dries off and goes away. HIghly carbonated, full feeling medium bodied. It’s interesting, but oddly done, like they tried to mask the pumpkin with as many spices as possible. It’s the "Left Hand Christmas" of pumpkin beers, basically, but not as bad. Still, the Southern Tier Pumpking is much better and remains the best pumpkin beer IMO.

Pours into the snifter a slightly hazy amber-orange color with some hues of crimson when held to the light. Produces a handsome 1" thick bone-white head with decent retention. No lacing noted. Aroma was extremely reminiscent of Anchor’s OSA;lots of spices abound here. Like opening the oven door while baking a pumpkin or mince meat pie. Very nice with just a touch of alcohol in the nose. Palate was quite creamy and full with just the right amount of carbonation. Overall flavor profile was brown sugar sweet initially followed by a firm array of tongue-tingling spices. Lots of cardamon, cinnamon and cloves are apparent here against a faint background of a sweet potato/pumpkin meat-like finish. The 8% alcohol warmed this brew up nicely. Definitely a fall/winter seasonal worth exploring.

From a 22oz Bottle. Pours a somewhat hazy orangish amber color with a healthy finger of fizzy, off-white head. Lots of pumpkin spice, with the cinnimon, nutmeg, cardamom, and clove all being equally obvious and balanced in the nose. A pleasant layer of doughy pumpkin bread lies beneath. Medium light bodied, crisply carbonated mouthfeel. A light caramel malt sweetness comes up first on the palate, spiced by more of the traditional pumpkin spices. The body is held together nicely by more pumpkin flavor and intriguing spice. Definitely heavy on the spice side, but not overwhelming, creating a very impressive impression. Excellent attenuation, dryness, and subtle pumpkin characters are able to come through as well. Definitely one of the best pumpkin beers I’ve had.

22ox bottle. Pours a glowing thick brownish-orange color with a nice creamy head. The smell of the nutmeg and other spices hits you right away. Somehow the intense spice flavors balance perfectly with the sweet malt, light hops, and alcohol. A very intricate beer, certainly one of the best pumpkin ales out there.

This one sure didn’t live up to the hype for me. I think I’ve been spoiled by Schlafly’s pumpkin beer.Pours copper / bronze with a patchy light tan head. The aroma has musty pumpkin, cream, light cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. Medium / light body with a bit of smooth carbonation. The flavor starts watery and lightly veggie with muted spices and then gets sour on the finish. Just didn’t do much for me.

Bottled. Great spicy nose. Nutmeg, cinnamon, and all things pumpkiny. Sweet with brown sugar and light hoppyness. Dark ruby-amver, almost brown. Clear, with thin off-white foamy lacing head. Medium bodied, almost thin, with medium carbonation. Starts sweet with brown sugar, molasses, and spices. Nutty and roasted grain. Stays sweet and spicy throughout, though a bit watery. Finish is mildly bitter and tangy, with a predominantly spicy after.

22oz bottle. Poured a dark amber color. Fairly thick head with strong spicy aroma. Nutmeg and cinnamon noted in the flavor. Alcohol fairly hidden. Smooth and easy to drink for such a spicy beer. Felt like I was drinking Thanksgiving and Halloween in a bottle. Very good pumpkin ale overall
