| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 6, 2009 Pours a translucent coppery golden-red with a fairly thick yellowish tan head. Aroma is mainly of cinnamon with a hint of pumpkin. Spicy, malty flavor has strong overtone of cinnamon and undertone of pumpkin. Texture is ragged, fizzy and jazzy with a spicy finish. mesperon (140), Jersey City, New Jersey, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Oct 4, 2009 Dark copper, clear with off-white head. Weak aroma of pupmkin and spices. Moderate carbonation and palate. Pumpkin is overdone wth lots of malt and spices, not a lot of hops. Peppery alcohol aftertaste. Tastes like other pumpkin beers that I’ve had, which is not great, with a lot of alcohol. drfabulous (1269), Columbia, Missouri, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 4, 2009 Pumpkin spice. Pumpkin pie. I don’t go crazy over pumpkin beers, but this one feels as good as any other. It has seasonal all over it. DeputyAndy (85), New Jersey, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 3, 2009 Pours a cocacola brown with a slight brown head. Very spicy, cinnamon nose. Tastes very pumpkin-ish without being too over-the-top sweet. A very nicely done pumpkin ale. Teege (121), Orlando, Florida, USA

Goes to show that a great aroma does not necessarily a great flavor make. Or maybe I just like to smell pumpkin beers more than I like to drink them. Even the high alcohol notes do not even out the overwhelming fall spices and inherent sweetness, both of which I enjoy in pumpkin pies but not in beers. obxdude10 (1563), Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 1, 2009 Weyerbacher’s offering of a pumpkin ale is well done, but in my opinion, not the best out there. I think the Pumpking from Southern Tier is much better. Weyerbacher’s pumpkin didn’t offer as much authentic pumpkin flavor as Southern Tier’s. Weyerbacher’s contains more of the added spice flavors, like nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves. Sure there’s a good amount of pumpkin flavor in here, but just not as much as the Pumpking. The beer pours an attractive amber color with an orange hue. The head is just off-white, but big, soft and leaves plenty of lacing around the edges of the glass. The aroma features a hint at the pumpkin, but again, contains mostly nutmeg and cinnamon. The body is smooth, well-presented and extremely drinkable. The alcohol content is very well hidden in this ale. Although I don’t think this rates as high as the Pumpking, I will nonetheless enjoy Weyerbacher’s Pumpkin Ale all October long.
