Poured a medium amber to caramel color with almost no head. Smell was spicy, cedary, oaky and a light alcohol presence as well as some notes of malt and vanilla.
Taste is nice and strongly oaked, spicy, but still somewhat hot and grain like alcohol flavored. Still not very easily drinkable, but not bad at all, and more complex than expected. slimchill (780), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 4, 2008 Bottle. Nose is bourbon, alcohol, oak, pears, and vanilla. Flavor is much more balanced than the unoaked version (at least young), with the oak lending more whiskey character to such an alcohol-heavy beer. More malt sweetness with vanilla notes. oreogobbler (217), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 4, 2008 Spiced green apple and pear aroma with a nice bourbon presence.
Caramel Brown lightly carbonated with full head.
Flavor: caramelized bourbon with spicy vanilla finish.
The palate is a little rough but much better then the blithering idiot. ReademNwheat (174), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of caramel and a whiskey type booze. Taste is sweet. Big flavors of caramel and vanillla, with notes of whiskey. Flavor is much better than the aroma would lead you to believe. joshwilfong (784), Cleveland, Ohio, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 30, 2008 Tap at Barcade. Hazy orange-amber beer. Fine-laced white head. Aroma is quite rich and sweet. Nutty malts, light rum-raisin, plum and sweet apricot. A bit of bourbony sweetness, some toasted malt and a vanilla/cherry soda-like flavour. Brown sugar, some strong oak and toffee. Sweetish, but with enough woody character to change it up a bit. Rich and well-balanced. Lots of bourbony sweetness up against the soft herbal bitterness and other sweet malts. Tasty. Vanilla, coconut, whiskey nose.. very sweet! No head. Tastes is wood, vanilla, bourbon, and maybe some sugary fruits. Sipping beer. Wakes you up, alcohol notes were present. One of the most interesting beers Ive had, def not for everyone.
