Didn’t realize this was bourbon barrel aged until I caught a whiff of the aromas, then wow! Scents of medium strong bourbon and fruits filled my nose. Flavors of sweet malts with whiskey aftertones, alcohol, plums, a bit of wood maybe, some bitterness. Very complex. The alchohol and bourbon flavors dominate but I thought it was done nicely. Goes down smooth and would be wonderful on a cold winters night. Nothing like I’ve ever tried before. Thanks to footbalm for the bottle! aobecksy (661), Middle of no where, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 22, 2006 Little to no head, brandy nose: bourbon sweety taste, sweet finish that caramelizes with warming. I little too sweet for bourbon casting, nice drink but a disappointment too. FROTHINGSLOSH (2038), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very cloudy - almost murky- chestnut color with lots of floaters and a small khaki head. The aroma is strong grapefruit with undertones of caramel and raisin. The flavor is strong and biting grapefruity hops with a sweet malty middle and a moderately strong woody finish. Elements of caramel come out as it warms. The mouthfeel is fairly thick. There is a bit of an alcohol burn. Rballs01 (264), Mountain Lakes, New Jersey, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 8, 2006 Drank this one on lunch break in the beer cooler. Thick and syrupy. Subtle tones of burbon and cherries. Hammerd it down with a chicken parm +hot peppers in the beer-box. My insides got warm but not for the grub. Imagine the INSANITY I left in the toilet after that combo?!! BLUMPKIN? brewblackhole (1385), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 1, 2006 Malty dark fruit, maple and carmel, and an obvious indication that it was aged in a barrel, cloudy carmel brown color, taste was chocolate cake, maple and carmelly sweet, like someone melted a bag of sugar daddies in it,that carmelly sweetness in the aftertaste was exquisite, as you got into the bottle more the alcohol really started to show itself, but for those nights when you tell the misses just one bottle for me,this would be perfect,a wonderful buzz thehipone (197), Australia
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 28, 2006 Expected lots more out of this one. Thin finely beaded head. Alcohol very apparent in the finish. Hops were quite subdued. A little caramelly, nothing challenging though. Oak not very strong. Tmoney99 (4790), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 15, 2006 Bottle. Poured hazy brown with an average fizzy off-white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Light caramel fruity aroma. Medium body with a slick texture. Medium complex sweet flavor with a sweet finish of moderate duration. Not as good as I expected. Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
