| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 8, 2006 Impressive pour - tan head, bright red color. Smells malty, hoppy, oakey, and interesting to say the least. Taste is very similar to Jack Daniels which I cannot drink in large proportions. Interesting and very complex, I would like to try this again perhaps as the first beer of the night instead of the 13th. Decent though. JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 3, 2006 Deep mahoganey ruby color, creamy/soapy light tan head.
Aroma has rich woody malt, tanniny german hops.
Sweet malt is first in the mouth. Tannins are oddly there as a bitter alcohol component. Faint woody chocolate.
A bit awkward as it comes together... and this one has at least a year on it. Some alcohol & bitter edge, but overall still pretty tasty. JFURYCAT (791), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 2, 2006 I had the cask version of this at the open house yesterday and the fruity cherriness was accentuated ten times over with an excellent foamy mouthfeel. I’ve had the bottled version many times. The alcohol was very well hidden. The oak and vanilla tones were evident but the fruit quality really comes out in the cask version. Mind blowing. hiphops (280), caldwell, New Jersey, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 26, 2006 2004 vintage, I believe. Poured a clear amber with a small fizzy white head which dissipated completely. Aroma of biscuit dough, cough syrup, grapes, brown sugar, a bit of whiskey. Flavor is slightly acidic with notes of biscuit dough, bourbon, scotch, a touch of sugar and some light floral essences. The bourbon aging is quite apparent here. It’s burning the inside of my mouth and throat. Strikes me like mixing a middle-of-the-road barley wine with a finger of blended scotch whiskey. Passable, but unrefined and not all that enjoyable. biggcb (464), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 24, 2006 Lots of different flavors coming at you - malt, hops, caramel, wood, raisins... But it all seems to work. You do know the alcohol level is high, but if you are brave, it is definitely worth a taste. entertheiceman (242), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 22, 2006 Pours red on the edges and brown through the middle with a tan head. Instant whiskey aroma. Really hard to get past the fact this seems like Jim Beam mixed with beer but I did detect some huge malt and hop flavors albeit suffocated by the liquor and alcohol heat. Bitter grapefruit and alcohol finish.
