Reddish brown with an off-white head, nice appearance for a Barley Wine. Aroma is strong on the whiskey, with some plum, brown sugar and vanilla as well. Toffee, nuts, caramel and sweet vanilla notes all come through in the flavor. Some char, and bitter hops in the finish.

Orangish brown in color with a decently quickly fading lace. A lemon zest nose with a pleasant hint of vanilla and fresh melon. It begins with a sweet first taste that is quickly followed with dryness to balance it out. After it turned to a caramel taste with a hint of vanilla and finishes with a big oaky flavor that brings out the alcohol. Very smooth and offers variety!

Pow, pow pow pow, pow pow pow pow pow pow. Pow pow pow pow pow. Strongggggggggggggg. All about alcohol and wood, kind of like bbq, camping and summe fun in a bottle for winter. Good for winter, best if you drink it REALLY cold. If you let it warm up too much it starts tastiing like chewing on toothpicks soaked in ethanol, not that this ia a bad thing......

Pours a lightly hazy, amber-ruby color that is topped by a quickly disappearing, amber-tan colored head. The aroma is a heady mix of oak, vanilla and alcohol. The aroma is certainly dominated by the oak, but I actually enjoy it; there is enough concentrated malt sweetness to keep the oak in check. I get notes of sweet buttery oak, vanillin, sweet raisins and, interestingly enough, lots of aromatics that remind me of coconut. The aroma is nice and it is really striking how the coconut note comes to dominate the nose over time.

The beer has a light sweetness that morphs into a slightly hot finish reminiscent of rum and grain alcohol. The beer is so soft and smooth up front that it does not quite have enough oomph to balance the sharp finish. There is enough malt to hold the oak in check and keep it from over taking and dominating the flavor though.

The flavor of this beer is not rich enough; it is almost a let down after the well integrated, rich, aromatic nose. In fact that is the problem, the flavors in this beer just don’t live up to the wonderful nose. There are soft fruity notes of raisins here, but they are not enough to hold back the thin, flabby character of a beer that seems like it should be rich and satisfying.

bottle. A cloudy brownish red color with a flat offwhite head. Alcoholic aroma with some oak overtones. Strong alcohol flavor with some oak that didnt have a pleasing taste, mostly because of the alcohol. Has a moderately thick feel with an alocohol finish. Its an ok beer but not something that I would drink again.

Pours a murky amber color with a lasting decent sized off-white head, aroma is of alcohol, sweet malts, and yeast, the flavor was strong with alcohol, there was also something off with the taste i couldn’t put my finger on, not bad however.

22 ounce bottle. Pours a murky brownish-red with very little head. We aren’t off to a very good start. The aroma is comprised of oak, cough syrup, fruity yeast esters, and strong alcohol. It pretty much tastes like a 2x4 dipped int rubbing alcohol. Not really all that enjoyable.

Bottled. Mine was in the frig for some time. Good beer. Alcohol was very prominent is the smell and taste. The Bourbon was nowhere to be found and that wasn’t a bad thing. Actually I think it would have made it a little off balance flavorwise for me.
