| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 31, 2009 Bomber into shaker. Purchased at Discount Liquor in Milwaukee. Hazy orange brown with a yellow head that’s fuzzy and dissipates into a mottled surface of bubbles. Rich smell of golden raisin, vanilla, and syrup. Creamy and full in texture, sweet but not intensely so, mostly tastes of overripe fruit, butterscotch, and twigs. The bourbon barrel comes out with some more vanilla in the finish, which is smooth and maybe a bit mealy. It is kind of a mess, but I find it tasty nonetheless. The bourbon is restrained (I don’t find it "boozy" at all) and I’m a sucker for a full barleywine. Glad I bought it.
