Commercial Description:
Formerly Weyerbacher Belgian Triple.
At Weyerbacher we've recreated a Belgian Trippel without limitation. We use premium Pilsener malts, candi-sugar, and yeast strains- all imported from Belgium. To be true to the style, our Trippel is bottle conditioned. This means we add a bit of candi-sugar and yeast just prior to bottling. This imparts a special effervescence to the beer, a creamier carbonation, and also extends the shelf life. The on-going fermentation inside the bottle will change the character of the beer as it ages, and you'll find it becomes dryer with age. You may want to lay down a few bottles for future evaluation. We suggest storing at cellar temperatures -around 55 degrees F- and away from light.

Golden orange pour with an nice fizzy blanket of white head that stuck around. Much better than expected. Not as citrusy as some or as yeasty.-- in other words, I didn’t find it super true to style -- but I still liked it. Sweeter than expected. Honey and Belgian sugar. mild citrus and yeast. I think this was a slightly older bottle. I’d drink again.

12 oz bottle courtesy of Thaichile. Pour is a hazed golden with a one inch off white head. There are quite a lot of particulates floating around in the beer, along with very fine carbonation. Aroma of honey, brown sugar and earthy Belgian yeastiness. Also a fruit sweetness present, cherry, though more like a cherry throat lozenge than fresh fruit cherry. Taste is the sugar-honey, and more of the cherry sweetness. Finish is yeasty and fairly long. The taste is mostly about the sweet honey int his one. Palate is mouth coating, a bit cloying with a touch of alcohol heat. This was an OK Tripel, not sure if that’s what they intended to make or not. Thanks for sending this my way, Mark!

bottle poured a golden straw color with a fair amount of sediment and a thin white head that fell quickly. aroma has sweet malt, light spice, snappy yeast, faint fruit, and light alcohol. mouth feel is medium light with medium carbonation. flavor has lots of sweetened malt, caramel, spiced yeast, hefty ester fruit, and a back end alcohol.

Pour is cloudy gold. Huge foamy head on this one. Looks great in the glass. Nose is spicy like coriander or something. A little malty a lot of yeast notes. Typical Belgium copy flavors. A lot of yeast and to me sweat socks. Not very good to my liking.

12oz bottle. Pours a deep hazy gold with light orange and yellow highlights and a thick, soft, fine-bubbled, white head. The aroma is very spicy with some sweetness. The flavor has a good bit of malt sweetness and some yeasty breadiness - but too much spice. The spices - cloves, pepper - seem to overpower the more delicate hop and malt flavors. There is a delicate, clean hop bitterness at mid-palate and more spices, some yeastiness, and some soft fruit esters. The finish is dry with some residual sweetness and more spicy phenols. The mouthfeel is well-carbonated and medium-bodied with a good crisp texture. Overall, a fairly mediocre Belgian Tripel (the label says Belgian Strong Golden Ale - which this beer certainly is not...)

22oz bottle pours straw color with a white fluffy head. Alot of carbonation in this one. Slightly dry beginning with a bit of black pepper and other spices. Medium body and a bit sweet.

Bottle, bubbles appeared as soon as I popped the cap, pours a clear deep gold with a touch of orange-faint amber and there are a bunch of small transparent floaties in this ale (bottom of bottle has a layer of sediment), there is some effervescence, a white head appears for a bit then recedes to a sparse cover and ring, there are aromas of pear, peaches and oranges, some malt sweetness, faint spices on the nose that are pepper, herbs and flowers, no alcohol fragrances, some cloves and slightly smoke fragrances, flavor of pear and orange citrus, has an initial sweetness that turns peppery and bitter at the finish, some warming alcohol on the palate but not overbearing, alcohol is hidden ok, a good citrus bitterness through out the drink, mouth feel is medium, medium carbonation maybe a bit less, this is an ok Tripel ale.
