I’ve had this one a few times throughout the ages, in 12oz format when it was just the Weyerbacher Tripel and then again when the Merry Monks label surfaced. Thick orange color, with a huge, foamy head. Creamy and rich, with a pleasant pungent yeast in the background. I don’t know about you, but I think it’s time to giev proper respect to the PA Tripel. This one is classic, probably a little better in 750ml format. smjohnst (203), , Pennsylvania, USA

It also almost had a fuity wine taste to it but for a beer thats 9% it had a very crisp and clean taste to it. Good stuff. KieferUGA (461), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Aroma of bananas, clove. Flavor is nice and sweet. Malty base with a hint of hops. Candi sugars and spices steal the show. Finish is a bit dry. Solid beer. oteyj (771), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 24, 2008 Pours yellowish amber with minimal head. Aroma is sweet with malt with some citrus, clove, and orange peel. Flavor is quite sweet with decent hop bitterness and a light malt profile. A little rough around the edges. Palate is prickly and medium bodied with some smoothness near the end. Alright but all around nothing incredible. A somewhat lackluster version of a style that does not do it for me. changeup45 (792), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 24, 2008 I went through a few phases while drinking this beer. I didn’t like it at first then it seemed to grow on me a bit and in the end it was a decent drink. Pours a clear orange color with a white head that quickly settles to thin patches. Not bad looking but definitely didn’t have that Belgian staying power. Very acidic and tart tasting with banana, oranges, yeast and some spices. Light numbing bitterness in the finish with some dry tart apples. There’s stuff going on here but it seems a bit thin and the flavors a little out of place. It got better as it warmed. This isn’t Belgian good but I didn’t think it would be and is a nice attempt by Weyerbacher. joekinty (263), rockledge, Florida, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 20, 2008 Updated: Feb 13, 2009On draft this pours a hazy golden pour with a medium, bubbly white head that leaves nice lacing behind. The aroma is of citrus fruit, a lot of banana, and a good amount fo spices. The flavor follows suit with banana, orange, and citrus up front with some yeast, cinnamon and other spices in the background. There is a good amount of sweetness in there too from the candy sugar. Medium bodied with good carbonation and pretty easy to drink. A smooth mouthfeel leads to a sweet yet spicy finish. Not my favorite from this style, but still pretty good and interesting.
