Really enjoyed the flavor. Hit many areas of the palate. Overall just loved this beer. Goodgrief (1161), Middletown, Delaware, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jan 26, 2008 First batch 4/06 - Okay, this may not be the worst trippel I’ve ever had...actually, it probably is. I’ve heard people call a particular beer a "mess" before and never knew what it meant...now, I do. This beer had all kind of issues. Poured with no head at all. No lacing. Very little aroma. The flavor was wicked sweet...candied sugar. There were all kinds of spices in this beer (clove?) that were way overdone. The tastes did not complement or meld at all. This is the "Avery the Reverend" of trippels, and I don’t mean that as a compliment. dpjuart (670), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 23, 2008 12 oz. bottle courtesy of phanomial_12. Pours golden with a one finger white head that is quite foamy. Spiced nose, sweet and citrusy, some mild "hefe" notes of banana. Taste is sweet with some fruity esters, banana and apple, some citrus and pear, maybe even some raisin. There’s a big alcohol finish, with warming into a very dry finish. This is pretty enjoyable, and a good addition to Weyerbacher’s "big beers" sampler. Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 20, 2008 Bottle. Hazy golden colour with a nice white head. Nice aroma of tropical fruit and chewygym. Flavour of tea, gym and quite special, ends up in a fruity alcoholic-way Scubatrip (388), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 11, 2008 From the bottle, pours a clear golden color with visible debris. Very banana and clove like aroma, reminds me more of a hefe than a tripel. Wow. I really like this one. It’s like a strong beer hefe, which is one of my favorite styles. Quite a banana flavor, yeasty as well as you might expect from a German hefe, very smooth. This just became one of my favorites. themadmumis (344), Westminster, Maryland, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 9, 2008 Very yeasty and suprisingly sweet. Subtle hop notes blend very well with the sugar. Only enjoyed fresh batches from the brewery and bottle; I can’t wait to see what happens with the other bottle next year. Pleasantly surprised. holdenn (1444), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 4, 2008 Sampled blind at "Better Know a Style: Abbey Tripel". Pours clear orange with an off-white head. Aged malts in the nose. Toffee and caramel. Similar flavors of toffee and caramel with with alcohol and citrus on the wing. Decent beer. sinkr (240), Lusby, Maryland, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 2, 2008 Bottle->tulip: Pours a frothy, but spare spare head on a murky body that is heavily particulate and amber in color and provides no lacing. The aroma is caramel, grain, and perhaps a bit of hay and perhaps a bit of sweaty/yeasty aroma as well, especially at a warmer pour temperature. The body is medium, the mouthfeel is oily, and is lively carbonated with a metallic aftertaste. It’s an OK beer, but I would suggest drinking it it at about 45 degrees.
