Commercial Description:
Formerly Weyerbacher Belgian Triple.
At Weyerbacher we've recreated a Belgian Trippel without limitation. We use premium Pilsener malts, candi-sugar, and yeast strains- all imported from Belgium. To be true to the style, our Trippel is bottle conditioned. This means we add a bit of candi-sugar and yeast just prior to bottling. This imparts a special effervescence to the beer, a creamier carbonation, and also extends the shelf life. The on-going fermentation inside the bottle will change the character of the beer as it ages, and you'll find it becomes dryer with age. You may want to lay down a few bottles for future evaluation. We suggest storing at cellar temperatures -around 55 degrees F- and away from light.

Trappist glass. Poured a slightly hazy gold color. Bread, yeast, and candy on the nose. Delicate carbonation with a fruity flavor. Alcohol is noticeable, but not unpleasant. Medium bodied with a sweet finish. A good beer.

(Rating #1311)

Sampled at From The Vine beer tasting Oct 19th, 2007: Cloudy yellow-orange color with a medium fizzy white head that burns off steadily. Quick patches of lacing. The aroma is bread, yeast and sweet fruit. Medium-bodied with flavors of yeast, fruit (banana) and earthy malt. The finish is spicy with banana and pear aftertaste. Overall this is a pretty good beer, although it is definitely on a lower rung than the world class Tripels out there.

Major bananas all over the place, like Laffy Taffy. Soft, cottony white head, very smooth, lingers, then fades to clean film. Hazy orange color. Vaporous, intoxicating fumes of candied orange fill the air with cotton-candy bananas. Foamed milk mouthfeel with tingly alcohol standing strong. Strong caramel flavor, with a small tart finish. Think Pop-rocks. Sweet weight is lifted towards the heavens by a light hollow essence of fruit and alcohol. This beer is what angels wings are powered by.

the best triple for your buck. Pours thick amber with a short head. Looks like it would drink like wax but suprisingly fizzy as a triple should be. A lot of honey, bubble gum, and believe it or not oak/vanilla.

A Sim rate (bottle from somewhere in Brooklyn):
Tangy, citric fruity aroma that smells like pear drops and resinous hops. Pleasant enough, though a bit alcoholic. Nice golden amber colour but with a non-existant head. Seriously, I poured it and wiith hardcore effervescence the bubbles quickly disappeared. Very alcoholiic flavour, but again fruity, sweet and quite nice. Bizarre palate that fizzes on your tongue despite its flat appearance. Nicely thick and syrupy due to the alcohol.

Very good American tripel. Very good price for it also. Definitely comparable to its PA counterpart Golden Monkey

Bottle. Pours a cloudy very light amber color with very little head. Sweet honey-like aroma with some light spice, fruit and yeast components. Taste is too fruity for my tastes and it’s yeasty enough that it tastes kind of underattenuated. Looks thin in the glass, although it does have a thick mouthfeel.
