Commercial Description:
Formerly Weyerbacher Belgian Triple.
At Weyerbacher we've recreated a Belgian Trippel without limitation. We use premium Pilsener malts, candi-sugar, and yeast strains- all imported from Belgium. To be true to the style, our Trippel is bottle conditioned. This means we add a bit of candi-sugar and yeast just prior to bottling. This imparts a special effervescence to the beer, a creamier carbonation, and also extends the shelf life. The on-going fermentation inside the bottle will change the character of the beer as it ages, and you'll find it becomes dryer with age. You may want to lay down a few bottles for future evaluation. We suggest storing at cellar temperatures -around 55 degrees F- and away from light.

Pours pale golden with a small head. Sweet, yeasty, cherry? aroma. Flavor is alcohol, cough syrup, cherries, some citrus, and a spicy ending. Full bodied. Eh, not great.

Not my favorite Triple. Maybe I should have let it condition in the bottle longer - I blame that on football and TV. The alcohol was the most prominent aspect of this beer and it hid the "special effervescence" of this beer. Maybe I will pack one away for a year and see if this works better for me. I hope my wife can hide it well or I may be tempted to open it early and see if I am pleasantly surprised.

Very bubbly clear golden color with big white head. Spicy, alcoholic aroma. The taste is smooth and creamy but is lacking a little punch. Sweet citrusy flavors. The finish is slightly bitter and relatively quick. Good beer but lacking complexity.

single 12 oz bottle purchased at Oak Tree. Slightly hazy golden with a small effervescent, and creamy white head. Aroma is spices, notes of fruit and malt. Taste is sweet pils malt/some candi sugar, fruity esters, and spices. The finish is smooth and lightly spicy. Maybe a bit sweet for the style, but overall I think this was a pretty decent tripel.

Pours a brassy color with a compact head that dissipates quickly. Spicy Belgian yeasty aroma and flavor (similar to WL550) of candied fruits. Effervescent with a peppery alcohol finish.

Very good. Only the second tripel I’ve ever had. Very similiar to Victory’s golden monkey.

Standard yellow/gold average looking with a medium white head. Apples and spice in the aroma with a hint of sour cherry. Taste is smooth effervescent and sweet with only a little alcohol apparent.

This is the second abbey tripel ive tried, the first being golden monkey. Both have similar alcohol contents (9.3-9.5%) however the merry monk is very smooth with hints of sugary fruits....either apple or orange. A nice sweet tasting beer that masks the alc content extremely well. Very nice. malty aftertaste
