Commercial Description:
Formerly Weyerbacher Belgian Triple.
At Weyerbacher we've recreated a Belgian Trippel without limitation. We use premium Pilsener malts, candi-sugar, and yeast strains- all imported from Belgium. To be true to the style, our Trippel is bottle conditioned. This means we add a bit of candi-sugar and yeast just prior to bottling. This imparts a special effervescence to the beer, a creamier carbonation, and also extends the shelf life. The on-going fermentation inside the bottle will change the character of the beer as it ages, and you'll find it becomes dryer with age. You may want to lay down a few bottles for future evaluation. We suggest storing at cellar temperatures -around 55 degrees F- and away from light.

Pours a pale yellowish, which is slightly cloudy. White head fades. Yeasty aroma. Sweet banana and bubblegum notes (almost like a cheap hefeweiss). Extremely sweet. Has a cheap syrupy flavor. Slightly carbonated mouthfeel. There’s mainly sweet hints of banana and a late alcohol flavor. That’s about it. Not too good, and definitly doesn’t have the qualitites of a tripel.

12 oz Bottle via Frumty (thanks!). Pours a clear golen with an average sixe white head. Nose is mostly of mild floral hops, pepper, butterscotch. Taste is the same with some mellow malts-a sweet start and a very sweet candy and tart finish. Medium body. Watery mouthfeel. Well carbonated. A bit of an alcohol burn as well.

This beer has a warm golden color and is topped with a creamy off white head. Aroma is warm, fruity, and slight spicey. It has hints of cakes, orange jam, bread, malts and rice creackers. The taste is round and generous, it has touches of alcohol, cookies, cakes, hops and fresh herbs. The aftertaste is delicious, it has tones of honey and ends with a fine bitterness of hops. What a great and tastefull beer.

12 oz bottle part of a 6 pack from Beltway Fine Wines in Towson. Poured into a chilled glass. No head, gold color, smells sweet. Tastes good, no taste of alcohol, albeit sweet. A little aftertaste. Very good.

Not the most attractive color -- a slightly-cloudy dirty brass. Not much head. Ditto on lacing. Aroma begins to redeem the brew with its malty, juicy-fruity, clocey-spicy, bread and sugar nose. Flavor totally unscrews the pooch. Notes of lighly toasted malt, candi sugar, molasses, cherries, strawberries, lemons, and, dare I say, a touch of wheat meld perfectly with the bits of clove, bubblegum, bready yeast and herbal hops to strike a quite harmonious chord, with none of the harsh, strident alcohol esters you might expect. Malty sweet, tart and bitter all at once it’s a nice tribute to the venerable Belgian Tripel. I’m going to cellar some like Weyerbacher suggests. Now if they could just work on appearance.

12 oz, 2005 bottle thanks to ?? Pours golden and what would be clear if not for all the sediment in the bottom (unexpected). Light head. Tropical fruit, figs/dates and sweet cotton candy are the first aromas to be noticed. There are also notes of malt, light alcohol (sherry) and perhaps a spice like cinnamon. The flavor is sweet with cotton candy (as in the aroma), sticky, musty fruit with hints of date and cheep red licorice. Well carbonated with gives it some lightness that cuts through the sweetness but still a bit too sticky and sweet. Not bad overall.

12 oz bottle-Poured a light golden color w/almost no head. Sweet aroma of sugar cane & yeast. Fresh crisp up front flavor of sugar/cotton candy w/traces of roasted grain & yeast. Very effervescent-really an attention getter. Plesent finish-not overly long. This could be a sesson beer if it wasn’t so high in alcohol-which you don’t taste but you feel.
