Commercial Description:
Formerly Weyerbacher Belgian Triple.
At Weyerbacher we've recreated a Belgian Trippel without limitation. We use premium Pilsener malts, candi-sugar, and yeast strains- all imported from Belgium. To be true to the style, our Trippel is bottle conditioned. This means we add a bit of candi-sugar and yeast just prior to bottling. This imparts a special effervescence to the beer, a creamier carbonation, and also extends the shelf life. The on-going fermentation inside the bottle will change the character of the beer as it ages, and you'll find it becomes dryer with age. You may want to lay down a few bottles for future evaluation. We suggest storing at cellar temperatures -around 55 degrees F- and away from light.

Much thanks to Beerdrenched for sharing this one. Don’t know if this should be called a tripel - the bottle I had didn’t strike me that way. Poured hazy yellow / orange with a small white head. Spicy banana aroma with some sweet malt. Smooth medium bodied beer with some semi-sharp carbonation - nice mixture. Taste has hefeweizen style banana and Belgium style malt and yeast. Some sharpness and tang on the finish - bits of pineapple and lemon. A nice unique beer - hopefully I can find this somewhere down the line.

Bottle. It had some very distinct qualities. Just didn’t agree with me for some reason - not really very balanced in my opinion. Bananna and bubble gum flavors. Wheat and spice qualities. Full body Tried this after a Rochefort 8 - about half way through the glass I was just about dancing topless on my kitchen counter.

Appearance: Pours a light golden color, partly transparent. Very small head disappeared quickly. Mediocre lacing. A constant stream co carbonation rose from the center of my snifter glass throughout the duration of the beer. Smell: My first thoughts were yeasty, white bread and ’oh it orange’. Seems to be quite fruity. With apple, white grape and a hint of tart, (maybe granny smith tart). Substantial sugars show through the aroma but there is very little of that 9.30% ABV in the nose. Taste: Oh sweetness. This is a juicy drink and not very much like what I would think of as a typical beer. It seemed like candied fruits all juiced and ready for a spring picnic. A bit of apple and pear, with a touch of orange. The is a very light bread character but the depth here is quite shallow. This beer seems to be sugary and straight forward. I like it but it definitely drinks like a juice. It does have a very pleasant sweet, almost powdered sugar, aftertaste. Mouthfeel: Very light, a bit thin in body but quite easy to swallow. Drinkability: Impressive beer, but not what I expected. I had a very big day today. As exhausted as I am this no thinker simple sweet beer really hit the spot and went down quite easily. Obviously not a session beer but what a great nightcap. Hope this is helpful. Cheers!

Bottle: Poured a very light color of hay with a 3/4-inch thick cloud of white bubbles to blanket it. Light yeasty aroma. Sweetart of a flavor ... hint of spicy tinges. Not much for a tripel ... I’d place it more in the witbier category in a blind test.

Cloudy golden body with a large white head that quickly diminishes. Somewhat hoppy aroma, light clove, and spices, some malt shows up as well. Rather dry body, high carbonation with some sweet yeasty characteristics. Ending of typical for this type of beer... sweet and spicy.

Bottle. Poured hazy copper with an average frothy white head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate yeasty sweet aroma. Medium body with a slick texture. Medium complex sweet flavor with a medium sweet small alcohol finish of moderate duration.

Some how i managed to forget to rate this beer. I just ran across a large selection of weyer brews and noticed that I hadnt rated it. Pour a clear amber color with a somewhat creamy head. Aroma was very sweet and slightly yeasty. Flavor was strange. It was very sweet and malty. Ill stick to the real abbey tripels from belgium over this one.
