Commercial Description:
Formerly Weyerbacher Belgian Triple.
At Weyerbacher we've recreated a Belgian Trippel without limitation. We use premium Pilsener malts, candi-sugar, and yeast strains- all imported from Belgium. To be true to the style, our Trippel is bottle conditioned. This means we add a bit of candi-sugar and yeast just prior to bottling. This imparts a special effervescence to the beer, a creamier carbonation, and also extends the shelf life. The on-going fermentation inside the bottle will change the character of the beer as it ages, and you'll find it becomes dryer with age. You may want to lay down a few bottles for future evaluation. We suggest storing at cellar temperatures -around 55 degrees F- and away from light.

12 oz bottle. Pale golden colour with a thin white head. Aroma is very yeasty and peppery, ripe banana. Lightly phenolic. Spices, especially clove/allspice, some bubble gum. Flavour is very fruity and phenolic, banana, overripe fruit. Sweet Belgian pale malt. Comes across too heavy and sweet. Carbonation could be dialled up a bit too, to make the body feel lighter. Fairly greasy/heavy mouthfeel and a bit of a chemically finish. Not a great example at all.

Hazy gold. No head. Aroma and flavor of crisp malt, funky yeast, light fruits, and a bit of sugar. Interesting brew. Medium body is surprisingly well carbonated considering the appearance. Very good, unexpected brew.

Tripel? More like a lambic in disguise - not a very good one at that. Pours out yellow looking, taste is sweet and sour though fairly easy to drink. Certainly not what I was expecting from a tripel, so they get points on that aspect. All in all, its not bad, but its not the best tripel, or anywhere close for that matter.

I have had many of these and they all seemed to have a little bit of sourness to them. Not what I would expect from a tripel. So that said, the fruity yeast strains were out done by something funky.

Pours a very clear golden yellow and has a decent white head. Aroma is very sweet with candi sugar...but hardly any yeast. I guess there is a bit of malt and fruit in the aroma. Taste is sweet and raisiny...that is about it...pleasant candi sugar...but nothing else. Mouthfeel is light and refreshing.

Honey, flowers, malt, and a touch of sour hay in the nose. Not much of a head to speak of and a honey colored body. Slightly tart with touches of sour chardonnay, candi sugar, flowers, and honey. Sharp mouthfeel is not overwhelming and goes well with the malty caramel finish.

Aroma is sweet and fruity. Sugar-coated lemon drops, mild muskiness and huge bubblegum esters. Light dry hops. Golden amber hazy beer, with a warm glow to it and thin white foamy lacing head. Medium watery body with medium-high carbonation and some alcohol warming. Starts sweet with sugary bubblegum and light grainy malts. Estery and fruity with honey and lemon, Belgian tripel traits, sweet and musky. A bit of vaporous alcohol and mild tang at the finish. Nice tripel.
