Commercial Description:
Formerly Weyerbacher Belgian Triple.
At Weyerbacher we've recreated a Belgian Trippel without limitation. We use premium Pilsener malts, candi-sugar, and yeast strains- all imported from Belgium. To be true to the style, our Trippel is bottle conditioned. This means we add a bit of candi-sugar and yeast just prior to bottling. This imparts a special effervescence to the beer, a creamier carbonation, and also extends the shelf life. The on-going fermentation inside the bottle will change the character of the beer as it ages, and you'll find it becomes dryer with age. You may want to lay down a few bottles for future evaluation. We suggest storing at cellar temperatures -around 55 degrees F- and away from light.

pours haze brass coulor with a short thin white head. smells sweet and tast the same. very sugary withfruity apricot undertones. this is too sweet to be very drinkable, one every now and then as a dessert maybey. I drank a few of these and the rest have been in cellar for a year now.

Bottle: I was told this was a very nice domestic Abbey Tripel. It was mediocre. I feel harsh saying that based on the nice review people told me. The pour was a little hazy, which I liked and the head was good with a fine lacing. The taste was grainy with a slight berry flavour.

12-oz. bottle via trade with kramer17801. Pours hazy, cloudy harvest moon color with a thin, edgy white head and lined lacing. Sweet yeast (dough, cellar) and berry (cherry) hop aroma, bananas and light malt (grain, meal) notes. Heavy yeast, sweet with a grain malt and berry flavor, lemony citrus notes. Light and fizzy, clean palate.

Nice body and aroma - smells of faint lemons. The flavor is overpowered by the taste of sugary lemons with a strong alcohol aftertate. Weak attempt at a belgian - there is no complex malt finish I expect in belgian trappist/abby ales.

bottle- 2004 The strong alcohol takes a moment for your brain to receive. Develops as it warms up. Very sweet, almost too much at first but mouth gave in half way. Good desert beer but not one I would drink everyday. Look forward to see how well it ages 5-10 years down the road. Not Weyerbachers best but a creative original of a Belgian Triple.

2005 bottle from Kramer17801? The beer pours to a hazy golden straw caramel color with a thin bubbly white head. The aroma is bubblegum and has some Pilsneresque characteristics. Lightly spiced. More fruits and malts than spices. Like apple slices with caramel. The flavor is appley with obvious candi sugar. Light lemon. Light yeast. Backend has caramel to it. Good tasting, although I wouldn’t really call it a triple. More like a standard Belgian ale mixed with a pilsner and a fruit beer? Not strange, just differently complex. The palate is tart and medium bodied with a silken texture. I don’t notice the alcohol at all.
