| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 15, 2005 Peppery, spicy aroma. Pour is a deep, cloudy yellow. Flavor is mostly tart, fruity, lemony, not as spicy as the aroma implies, unfortunately. Sammy (4065), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 7/20 | Oct 29, 2005 Nice head. Initially like a yesty Unibroue, but then Sour and acidic. Not finishable. Too dry, too carbonated. cloves are shocking to palate. Lemongrass does only sour it further. Medicinal. maltdog (518), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 27, 2005 Bottle opens with a healthy chuff. Pours a saturated traffic-light amber with dustlike floaties. Almost no carbonation in the beer itself. Wimpy paper white suds rings the glass. Yeasty, fruity, spicy nose: banana, pear, grapes, clove, and some nosehair-curling ethanol. Some creamy California chardonnay notes. Odd flavor mixture of toasty malt, butterscotch, and rubbing alcohol. Slick, glycerine-like mouthfeel; the liquid is so thick that it coats the glass. Aftertaste fades from nutty and yeasty to nail polish. Alcohol very dominant throughout. Some bubbles would have been nice.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Oct 17, 2005 Bottle from kramer17801. Pours a slightly murky light copper color (this just came today so it may have cleared a bit had I let it sit longer). There is almost no head, just a whisp of white bubbles, almost still. Sweet aroma with notes of pears, apricots and candi. Flavors of pears, oranges, candi, and yeast . The flavor is dominated by an almost overwelming alcohol warmth. Dry aftertaste. radagast83 (1317), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Oct 16, 2005 Light fruity/sweet flavor. Had forgotten that I did not enjoy Belgian Style Golden ale when I started it, but I still appreciated it as a very good drink. cazort (421), Newark, Delaware, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/20 | Oct 15, 2005 Aroma wheaty, yeasty, sour, pleasantly fruity. Tastes sweet, but not unpleasantly so. Very little sourness in the flavour, which is very nice. Very smooth, extremely fruity flavour. Aftertaste of alcohol and little else. The alcohol overpowers this otherwise light and fruity beer. There are not enough hops present and this beer is not even remotely dry: it tastes basically like a good belgian white with twice the alcohol. The question is: why? If I’m going for this sort of flavour I would prefer it to have a lot less alcohol. For such a high alcohol content and taste, there ought to be more hops and more complexity. Taste much the same, with a slightly sweeter finish. Nice clean, dry finish on it. Boy does it warm you up right away.
