This beer has a nice amber color to it and pours no head to it at all. There is a lot of carbonation and has a smell of clove and citrus. There is a big bite to it and has a hoppy taste with a hint of fruits.

Sep 3, 2008 Bottle into a trappist glass. Aroma is spice with a bit of mellow sweetness. The taste is spice with some sweet citrus taste along with a good yeast flavor. I wouldn’t buy this again only because compared with some of the other Tripels out there this one really doesn’t hold up too well.

Sep 2, 2008 Bright orange hue, not much head and it fades fast. Very little carbonation, especially for a Belgium. Strong honey aroma like a mead. I imagine the honey aroma comes from the alcohol skyrocket of this beer. Sweet taste, honey and rock candy as well as big malt. Sweet flavor over powers the alcohol. Palate is pretty good. In summation it can’t compare to masterful foreign Belgium blends.

Sep 2, 2008 Sampled this atthe brewery.Poured a nice yellow color with a small white head.Aromas were of yeast and banana and light spice.The flavor was actually very good with hints of sugar and clove and citrus.Very well done by the folks at Weyerbacher!

Aug 31, 2008 750ml corked bottle. I’ve had this one a few times throughout the ages, in 12oz format when it was just the Weyerbacher Tripel and then again when the Merry Monks label surfaced. Thick orange color, with a huge, foamy head. Creamy and rich, with a pleasant pungent yeast in the background. I don’t know about you, but I think it’s time to giev proper respect to the PA Tripel. This one is classic, probably a little better in 750ml format.

Aug 29, 2008 Had a very wine type of smell to it. It also almost had a fuity wine taste to it but for a beer thats 9% it had a very crisp and clean taste to it. Good stuff.
