Commercial Description:
Our latest creation, MUSE, is a Farmhouse Ale with a distinctive Weyerbacher signature. Farmhouse Ales, by tradition, were used as restoratives for workers during the warmer months under the hot midday sun. Typically made with barley, sometimes wheat and oats as well, a Farmhouse Ale could be light golden to amber in color, but always with a dry, slightly tart finish, thus being a great thirst quencher.
Weyerbacher MUSE is light amber in color, brewed with barley and a healthy dose of raw wheat and raw oats as per tradition, to give it a mouthfeel that’s both silky and light at the same time. The wheat and oats add a bit of cloudiness to the beer as well, so don’t be afraid, sometimes cloudy is good! A very special Belgian yeast strain was used to ferment this particular brew, and it was done at downright “hot” temperatures, 78 F, in order for the yeast to develop its spicy profile that is expected for a Farmhouse Ale. No spices were added to this brew, its all from the yeast.
MUSE is hopped with Styrian Goldings for bitter, and Saaz for aroma, both just adding even more to the dryness of the brew. Putting it all together, you have a slightly spicy palate, with pleasant aromas and very dry, mildly bitter finish. At 6.2%, you’ll want another one so you can ponder this intriguing taste profile, and you may find yourself wondering why you haven’t explored Farmhouse Ales before!

pours murky orange, smells of citrus and funk and some grass or hey. the flavor is pretty funky in itself, although there is a wheaty citrus flavor that is pleasent, but mostly it’s pretty damn funky.

Golden, medium carbonation. A very unique taste and reason why I gave it a 5 fro palate. There is something special about the mouthfeel and taste. It feels they have condensed all the smells of a farm / fields in a bottle. This smell of fresh, wet grass, wheat. A distinct herb that I cannot pinpoint.

Looks nice- hazy orange, very active carbonation. Syrupy sweet smell with some spicy notes. Floral flavors and a spicy hop bite, some lavender and orange peels. Decent crisp finish. Flavors don’t blend well, holding rating down.

20070519 Bomber. This stuff looks great, orange amber with lofty, sudsy, off-white head. Aroma is not so good - wet hay and barnyard, they’ve captured that essense, but it’s not a comforting or good farm smell, more like a central PA farm. It’s not good. Flavor is just bad, notes of browned ground beef, wet weeds, and dank smoke. Ick. Tastes like a stinky, dank bar smells in the morning. Fair to medium body with mild eff.

A- Pours a light peach color with a nice 1.5 finger white head that sticks around for a while. S- Smell is light, very funky and yeasty, almost sour. T- Taste is very earthy, yeasty and spicy. Definitely not a whole lot going on but a good session type beer. M- Medium viscosity with a bit too much carbonation. D- This is an easy drinker. There are definitely better saisons out there but this isn’t a bad choice.

Oct. 2007 - Orange pour with a yeast swirl like a tornado in the beer. Smallish head and some lacing also evident. Flavor was wheat with some light fruit, mild funk and loads of grass and peppery spices. Mouthfeel is thick and syrupy. Not bad, but not my favorite Weyerbacher offering.

This beer pours a hazy orange color with a thin and foamy white head that dissipates quickly. Thin rings of lacing. Barnyard aroma with some pale malt and spice. Light-bodied with flavors of tart fruit and musty malt primarily, plus a bit of hops and yeast. The finish is dry and fruity with a mild yeast aftertaste. So-so overall.

Cold 22oz bottle: Pours a cloudy medium orange sunset color with a moderately sized fluffy ivory head that mostly diminishes into a layer of bubbles. Aroma is of light grains, fruits, spices, earth and grass. Taste is of rich grains, spice and light fruits. Medium to heavy bodied (particularly for this style) and crisp with excellent carbonation. Ending is dry; of earthy and grassy bitterness and some lemon, with light alcohol burn and some malty sweet notes.
