Commercial Description:
Our latest creation, MUSE, is a Farmhouse Ale with a distinctive Weyerbacher signature. Farmhouse Ales, by tradition, were used as restoratives for workers during the warmer months under the hot midday sun. Typically made with barley, sometimes wheat and oats as well, a Farmhouse Ale could be light golden to amber in color, but always with a dry, slightly tart finish, thus being a great thirst quencher.
Weyerbacher MUSE is light amber in color, brewed with barley and a healthy dose of raw wheat and raw oats as per tradition, to give it a mouthfeel that’s both silky and light at the same time. The wheat and oats add a bit of cloudiness to the beer as well, so don’t be afraid, sometimes cloudy is good! A very special Belgian yeast strain was used to ferment this particular brew, and it was done at downright “hot” temperatures, 78 F, in order for the yeast to develop its spicy profile that is expected for a Farmhouse Ale. No spices were added to this brew, its all from the yeast.
MUSE is hopped with Styrian Goldings for bitter, and Saaz for aroma, both just adding even more to the dryness of the brew. Putting it all together, you have a slightly spicy palate, with pleasant aromas and very dry, mildly bitter finish. At 6.2%, you’ll want another one so you can ponder this intriguing taste profile, and you may find yourself wondering why you haven’t explored Farmhouse Ales before!

Bottle: Dull caramel, very thick and hazy, large foamy white head, sticky lacing.   The nose somewhat reminds me of cider, or champagne.   Yeah, almost like Brut champagne.   Otherwise some slight floral and citrusy notes.   I am also getting a tinge of cat urine, of all things.   So we have Brut champage, flora, citrus, and cat urine.   Heh!   Pale breadiness on the tongue, alcoholic floral notes, slightly astringent, with a bit of basement and barn in the finish.   Floral aspects are not as sweet nor crisp as other examples, instead its like that fake floral stuff you might get in an air freshener.   Yeah, air freshener floral, bingo!   Body and mouthfeel are fairly average, if perhaps on the watery side.   Finish is a little muttled.   Comes across as very artificial.   Not bad, but certainly not that entertaining either.   Thanks goes out to beastiefan2k for the trade!   I had to have the label.   Thanks Eugene!

Poured cloudy red/orange with an aroma of herbs, lemons, perhaps earth toned flowers. Flavor was bitter and sour, malts, cloves, with a hint of oranges. Tastey enough, somewhat of a strange brew (pardon the pun), but decent enough.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle. Medium bodied cloudy golden beer presenting with initial tight head which leaves little to no lacing. The aroma of this beer to me, is like rotten, fermented fruit. Yeasty, hoppy taste with a bit smoother finish and tart fruitiness and an almost clove-type tastet hroughout. Not one of my favorite farmhouse ales / saisons, but definitely tolerable and could do nicely with a fresh caesar salad to provide some more earthy balance for the beer.

22oz bottle. Pours dark golden wit a moderate sized off-white head. Funky floral aroma, with spice and lavender. Complex flavor, with malt, spice, lavender, white pepper, clove and hops. Flavor is complex, perhaps too much going on here.

22oz bottle. overall a good farmhouse ale. quite bitter, but balanced nicely by malt. This beer has a somewhat distinct sequenced eruption of flavor starting rather carbonated to hoppy to smooth almost caramely malt to a crisp dry finish which is only mildly hoppy.

22 oz. bottle via trade with jasonmech77 - Pours a hazy amber color with a one and a half finger thick off white head. Nice lacing. Has a lightly spiced friut (apple & grape) aroma. Flavor is mostly esters. Palate is slightly tart and bitter. Medium body. I’m not quite sure about this beer. Not a typical Saison. Thanks Jason.

Cloudy dark peach with a beige head....sweet & sour aroma...reminds me of a huge wheat field, flooded with beer....flavor is fruity, almost wine-like....a fragrant yeast aroma....a natural style for Weyerbacher, impressive....slight bitterness on the finish
