Commercial Description:
Our latest creation, MUSE, is a Farmhouse Ale with a distinctive Weyerbacher signature. Farmhouse Ales, by tradition, were used as restoratives for workers during the warmer months under the hot midday sun. Typically made with barley, sometimes wheat and oats as well, a Farmhouse Ale could be light golden to amber in color, but always with a dry, slightly tart finish, thus being a great thirst quencher.
Weyerbacher MUSE is light amber in color, brewed with barley and a healthy dose of raw wheat and raw oats as per tradition, to give it a mouthfeel that’s both silky and light at the same time. The wheat and oats add a bit of cloudiness to the beer as well, so don’t be afraid, sometimes cloudy is good! A very special Belgian yeast strain was used to ferment this particular brew, and it was done at downright “hot” temperatures, 78 F, in order for the yeast to develop its spicy profile that is expected for a Farmhouse Ale. No spices were added to this brew, its all from the yeast.
MUSE is hopped with Styrian Goldings for bitter, and Saaz for aroma, both just adding even more to the dryness of the brew. Putting it all together, you have a slightly spicy palate, with pleasant aromas and very dry, mildly bitter finish. At 6.2%, you’ll want another one so you can ponder this intriguing taste profile, and you may find yourself wondering why you haven’t explored Farmhouse Ales before!

Pours a hazy soft peachy amber with a medium off white slightly creamy head. Smells like a friggin Belgian white. Sour bretty aroma, citrus, definite orange, spicy, just like a Belgian white. The flavor has that spicy bite to it, well carbonated, orange/citrus very prominent, mild Belgian sourness, hidden macro grassy taste. Feels crisp and carbonated and finishes a bit warm. Not a 3 or whatever but definitely not above average.

22 oz bottle from Secret Santa. Pour is orange - yellow almost clear with visible carbonation. Big slightly off-white head which lasts. Aroma of earthiness and some sour funk. Taste is minerally initially, then some earthiness into a clean, slightly bitter finish. Bit of an odd after taste, but overall a really refreshing beer.

The color was a hazy golden/orange. The head was creamy, off-white, and foamy. The aroma was wheaty/yeasty, light citris, and some hops. The flavor was wheaty and yeast, somewhat tart, and wet hay. The palate carbonated decently. The finish was somewhat warm.

Bottle 650 ml
Appearance :Cloudy haze of bright amber with large creamy head. Handsome ale.
Nose : Rich, slightly bombastic with its parfumy nature. Yeasty hints, spark of hops. I like that 7+
Flavour/Palate : Rich , big slightly sour with gentle alcoholic warmth. Complex and different. Yeasty, hoppy with alcohol backing . Refreshing bitterness on your lips. Neat.

(Bottle) Pours a hazy golden body with a moderate white head. Aroma of mustiness, coriander, toastiness, apple, and peaches. Flavor of herbs, light lemony sourness, biscuit, and light floral hops.

22oz - Aroma is bready yeast with subtle malt, spice and a touch of hops. Pours cloudy brown-yellow with a huge head and great lacing. Flavor matches aroma with a sour lemon tartness. Palate is tart and creamy. While this doesn’t have the funk and "outdoor" attributes I look for in a saison, I didn’t find it offensive and it was a decent enough session brew. Surprised at the low ratings here.

Pours murky amber with a large light tan head. The aroma is disappointing and on the veggie side (broccoli?), bit of sweet malt, minor spice and very little yeast presence. Medium body with graininess and minimal carbonation. The palate is the most saison thing in the beer. The flavor starts with some papery traits, dry caramel malt, spicy phenols and the lightest hint of fruit. The finish is equally dry with some grape aspects and lots of pepper. Mediocre - not surprising as this is a brewery that does many interesting sounding beers to sub-par results. I keep trying hoping they get things right.
