Commercial Description:
Our latest creation, MUSE, is a Farmhouse Ale with a distinctive Weyerbacher signature. Farmhouse Ales, by tradition, were used as restoratives for workers during the warmer months under the hot midday sun. Typically made with barley, sometimes wheat and oats as well, a Farmhouse Ale could be light golden to amber in color, but always with a dry, slightly tart finish, thus being a great thirst quencher.
Weyerbacher MUSE is light amber in color, brewed with barley and a healthy dose of raw wheat and raw oats as per tradition, to give it a mouthfeel that’s both silky and light at the same time. The wheat and oats add a bit of cloudiness to the beer as well, so don’t be afraid, sometimes cloudy is good! A very special Belgian yeast strain was used to ferment this particular brew, and it was done at downright “hot” temperatures, 78 F, in order for the yeast to develop its spicy profile that is expected for a Farmhouse Ale. No spices were added to this brew, its all from the yeast.
MUSE is hopped with Styrian Goldings for bitter, and Saaz for aroma, both just adding even more to the dryness of the brew. Putting it all together, you have a slightly spicy palate, with pleasant aromas and very dry, mildly bitter finish. At 6.2%, you’ll want another one so you can ponder this intriguing taste profile, and you may find yourself wondering why you haven’t explored Farmhouse Ales before!

22 oz bottle. I’m really not sure what to say here. This was the first Weyerbacher that I didn’t like at all. Aroma is a odd mix of spices and ash. Flavor is almost as umpleasant. I finished it all, but I don’t plan on getting this particular beverage again.

Pours a cloudy sunshiney straw with a head of crisp white. Aromas fill the room once I pop the cap...and my nose immediately crinkles. Stinky (and not in a good way) scents of celery, old bald tires, and wet hay. Off-putting to say the least. Flavors give a bit of yeasty element, along with some more celery nastiness and a trifle bit of rubber. It’s not good, oit’s not that drinkable, and I just don’t like it. Glad I got it in a trade and didn’t actually "pay" for this. I am not aMUSEd.

Horrible aroma followed by a taste of cigarettes and coffee. Not very pleasant. I took the jestered goat label as sign that i had been fooled into drinking a beer that was not a traditional strong and flavorful Weyerbacher but rather a joke.

Bomber. Pours a cloudy deep orange color with a thick white head that settles down to a sparse covering. Light spice and citrus notes hover over a biscuity malt base. Palate is light and has a low carbonation level. Flavor has a high wheat presence and the finish has a sour turn at the end that is a bit unpleasant. Not a very well developed spice character. The beer wasn’t a very good saison, but it wasn’t awful.

Golden color with a white fizzy head. Aroma has a light spicy-grainy-farmhouse element to it. Flavor was just awful - too peppery and spicy with no where near the citrus or quality malt/hop mix to add anything pleasurable. I love Weyerbacher, but they have to stick to the Double Simcoes and barrel aged beers that they do so well.

Bottle. Aroma bready and lemony slight earthen. Poured a darkened golden to amber. Flavors of peppery lemons and wheatiness melded pretty good. Palate was medium and relatively balanced. Overall I didn’t drink this really cold and had just come in from 3 hrs of hard yard work and I enjoyed it. As we all know farmhouse ales are hit or miss. I Found it embacingly enjoyable.

Bottle... RBSG 07... Hazy, golden ale with a small, frothy, white head. Decent retention. The nose is spicy, breadsy and grainy with notes of lightly toasted pale malts, white pepper, clove, light funk and lemon peel. Well-balanced flavor in all aspects; bitterness, sweetness and acidity. Medium-bodied with a dry mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Finishes fairly abrasive and dry. Enjoyable.
