Commercial Description:
Formerly Weyerbacher Imperial Stout.
Rich, velvety and deliciously complex, Weyerbacher Imperial Stout is a truly distinctive winter warmer. We use seven types of malt and two varieties of hops to bring forth this big brew. Quite robust and roasty on the palate, Weyerbacher Imperial Stout has a wonderfully fruity nose and a moderately dry finish. The taste is highly complex- perhaps you'll even discern notes of expresso or chocolate.

Bottle - Poured a very dark black/brown in color with a small dark tan head that faded to a rim around the glass. Aroma is quite fruity (dark fruit... prune, date) with some dark malt and chocolate. Flavor is fairly strong of dark roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and dark fruit. More carbonated than I would like. Thinner than expected. Some alcohol burn noted. Finish is quite bitter and lingering with the flavor of the dark fruit hanging on. OK, but not my favorite Imperial Stout.

12 ounce bottle poured into a snifter. The aroma is very fruity with some malt and definite chocolate. Absolutely delicious taste of chocolate and malt in the initial sip which then gradually warms to some more cocoa feel. Subtly gets sweeter. Great sipper. Would buy again very soon

This stout poured a usual deep black colour with a short lived tan coloured head. To the nose there is scents of paint thinner, caramel, nuts and a little chocolate. First taste was smooth and thick with a oily mouthfeel. Flavours of roasted grain, glue and caramel among others. The finish was syrupy with roasted flavours lingering. Palate was slightly hoppy with a very slight bitter flavour.

12oz from River City Cellars, Richmond. I think this brew is slightly better than its oak-aged sibling. Obsidian pour with a minimal head, thick and oily. While sadly, the mouthfeel is thinner than you’d expect given these qualities, the base elements of the stout - nice chocolate malts and a very modest roast flavor - come across fairly well. I’d not go out of my way to have this one, but it’s solid as far as it goes.

I hope to re-rate this. 12 oz bottle poured into a snifter. Poured a dark brown color with a huge brown head. Aroma is of coffee, bitter chocolate and dark fruit. Flavor is bitter coffee and roasted malt with a smokey finish. I had high hopes for this beer after having their double simcoe, but it left a lot on the table. Body was a little light for an impy.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark brown/black color with a small dark tan head. Aromas of raisins, dark chocolate and coffee. Medium-bodied with a bitter finish. A nicely balanced Imperial Stout.

12 oz bottle. Dark brown with a bubbly tan head. Nose is grape, cocoa and musty coffee. Creamy body with a tang. Taste is Baker’s chocolate, prune, burnt sugar and bitter grass. A pretty good stout with an odd, vegetal sourness in the finish that throws me.

12oz bottle thanks to MrChopin. Pours black with a brown head. Nose is of chocolate, fruity and roasty malt. Taste is of chocolate and coffee; some ash. Mouthfeel is medium-to-thin and smooth. Thinner than I would like from an Imperial Stout. Not bad though.
