Pours a deep black with a dark tan one finger head that slowly fades to a thin spotty cap, leaving behind a thick webbing of lace. I wasn’t expecting to see as much lace as I did, with such a small amount of foam left behind. Smell; lots of roasted malts and coffee float out of the glass, but without totally assaulting you like some other imperial stouts. I also get hints of some dark fruits and little bit of some hops. Taste; as with the aroma, there’s roasted malts with a slightly bitter coffee flavor. Some plums and raisins are present as well as some chocolate and molasses. This is a bit more subdued than I was expecting for an Imperial stout, but sometimes it’s a good thing to not be bludgeoned by your beer. Mouthfeel was a bit thinner that i would have liked, but the drinkability was very nice.

12oz bottle. Bonus Beer from a trade with Kramer17801, thanks buddy. This is my first Weyerbacher review but certainly not my last. Pours black with a nice fluffy light brown head, the kind of head I want to see when I pour a bottle of Imperial Stout. the nose in my opinion is less satisfying, its very smoky and roasty but the first scent that comes to mind is dog food, don’t ask me why. Despite that I take a taste, and the taste is satisfying, its rich, has full chocolate flavor and a nice malty edge. This is a bit low on the abv scale for me when it comes to Imperial Stouts but it actually stands pretty strong. The chocolate flavor lingers nicely and despite the overall not too complex aroma the taste is what is most important. Good brew, I look forward to more good things from Weyerbacher.

From a bottle. The pour is nice with a little bit of head. Body is somewhat full, but only average for an IS. The color of course is black. It has all the falvors you would expect from a IS: chocolate, roast, malt, little bit of coffee. The thing that set this beer apart for me was that it had more of a "smoky" flavor than other IS that I’ve had. Normally I wouldn’t think that would work for my tastes, but for some reason it did. All the flavors seemed to mix well and none really over-powered the others. Little bit of hops, but not many. The finish is nice and clean. I think this is a beer worth giving a try.

Roasty aroma. Head dies in <30 seconds leaving no fizz but a nice pitch black oil slick appearance. A very smooth and drinkable brew.

Geez, I’ve never had a beer go from great to trainwreck so quickly. Pours close to black with a soapy dark tan head. The aroma has lots of creamy dark chocolate, heavily roasted malt, vanilla, cream and light coffee. With an appearance and aroma this good what could possibly go wrong? LOTS!! The body was medium / thin with very little carbonation. The taste was abismal - sour fruits, astringency and lots of tartness. None of the promised qualities on the nose are in the taste. I smelled it after taste and the aroma was still fine. This just went terribly wrong from the aroma to the taste.

A good brew. Not too thick for this style. But a good brewski nontheless.

Solid black with a compact tan/light brown head. Aroma and flavor are very roasty with coffee and slight burnt tones. A bit thin but an overall solid brew with good complexity and the alcohol is not too dominant.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of xproudfoot. Black and opaque with a small, light brown head. Aroma of lightly burned malt. Medium body with a discreet tartness. Some roasted malt with a vaguely burned note. Subdued bitterness from the malts. Generally a bit on the thin side for an Imperial Stout. 191206
