| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 22, 2006 From bottle. Pours black with creamy coffee head. Nose is bitter coffee, a sour vinousness, and hints of chocolate. Flavor has a bitter grapefruit component up front, moving into a coffee and lemon finish. Somewhat sour overall. Seems like the hops were overdone on this one, but still an interesting brew. AlKHall (161), West Hartford, Connecticut, USA

Flavor is awesome, rich and smooth, like roasted espresso loaded with dark bitter chocolate and kinda sweet. The alcohol is well hidden among the massive flavors. ehhdayton (1113), USA

The flavor is a blend of roasted coffee, chocolate, and dark fruit with a bittersweet finish on the palate. The color is a dark black with a huge tan head of considerable duration . Hits all the appropriate notes for an Imperial, a little bit of a silky feel to the body, excellent. Now I hope I can track down a bottle of the Heresy... Bigsilky (322), Charleston, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 18, 2006 I made a mistake of drinking this one a little too cold. Let this one warm up a little. (2nd time I’ve tasted it) In my Brooklyn snifter. Tan head fades. Midnight black. Notes of caramel and coffee and some piney hop notes on the nose, very subtle. Silky on the palate, cocoa, and maybe some light liqorice. The silkiness grows and the beer expands in the mouth to a very modest richness. I think this one maybe a little underrated, congruant with my first impression. Glad I gave it another try. joergen (8610), Frederiksberg, Denmark
