Taste was similar -- apples and alcohol. Wasn’t too impressed. BeerandBlues2 (3237), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

Aroma is banana, pineapple and yeast (dough), alcohol, bubblegum, malt (straw, meal) and grass. Medium tart and bitter, mild acidity, pineapple and bubblegum, heavy yeast and alcohol finish with some tart citrus and oak barrel notes. Medium bodied, fizzy and spicy, dry palate. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 18, 2006 Bomber. Hazy yellowish pour...big fluffy white head. Fruit juicy aromas...sweet, bourbon, vanilla, oakiness. Flavor was moderately sweet with the oak and bourbon always standing close by. Medium bodied...alcoholic...low carbonation...banana, estery....this one is busy. Not your typical tripel, but I enjoyed it. boto (1352), Granby, Connecticut, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 17, 2006 22oz. bomber: There was a slow ooze of foam out of the top after I opened this one. I was expecting a huge head, but only got a small fizzy one that dropped away almost instantly. The color is a clear straw yellow. There is a sweetness to the aroma. Possible notes of vanilla, citrus and oak. The beer is medium bodied: I was expecting something a bit fuller. Notes of fruits, mainly banana and a faint taste of pineapple. A touch fizzy on the tongue. A touch dry to the finish. Not a true tripel, but an interesting variant of the style. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA

Pours a pale copper color with a small white quickly dissapating head. Aroma of cherries, citrus, wood (beautiful aroma). Flavor is smooth, oak, cherries, citrus, carbonation. Nice i was liking this one. illinismitty (1809), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 13, 2006 Updated: Jun 14, 2006Bomber. Pours hazy golden with a fizzy white head. Very strong lemon aroma, with some hints of alcohol. Medium light mouthfeel. Initial flavor is sweet with pineapple notes, then transitions to tart, slightly bitter finish. There is also some oak, dryness, and alcohol in the finish. But for the alcohol content, this is very easy to drink. The bourbon barrel flavor are very very subtle. You almost do not know its there. In the end , lemon and desert wine flavors seems to linger. I am not sure why some people are bashing this beer. It’s not too bad. I’d drink this again. JK (2967), Richfield, Minnesota, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 1/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | May 30, 2006 Weird stuff. Alcohol aroma and flavor. Yellow and clear; unlike a tripel at all. There is a strange sweetness but no belgian quality. The odd combination of herbs and sweet malt, as well as a very thin body doesn’t work very well. Aged in oak? I wouldn’t have known. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | May 17, 2006 22 oz bottle from Stateline Beverage in Elkton, MD (April 2006), gulped voraciously in a violent rage from a Chouffe tulip at cellar temperature. A smallish, dried herbal and honeyish vapour arises from the oily dark gold surface, surmounted by a moderate head decaying smoothly and leaving little lace.....warmer, cigar ash and faint oaky vanilla make their presence known, before imbibing and tasting.....sweet, moderately syrupy, cherry-honey concotion with touches of whiskey character, dry herbal bitterness and hearty alcoholic beefiness in midpalate, with some harsh medicinal notes towards the finish, not entirely obtrusive....a bit too sticky and sugary, the malt doesn’t seem well-extracted...a mixed success of a blend between tripel and barley wine, with more of the former in overall character and a bit too much of the latter in obvious alcohol. Another questionable attempt from this frustrating brewery.
