(22oz bottle) Sparkling clear apple juice body topped by big off-white head. Aroma is moderately sweet, bourbon, oak, light apple. Taste is moderately sweet, apple, lemon, some oak, finishing with oak and mild bourbon. Medium-full body, low carbonation, surprisingly drinkable. Taste bordered on a cider. As for what happened to that tripel that was there

Pours a cloudy copper with a cap of coarse white head. Very strong clove and banana aromas up front, with some cinnamon and a pleasant muskiness filling things out. Lemon/malty flavors, and something that might be the oak. Initially, the alcohol is rather sharp and biting. As it approaches room temp, the flavors blend a little better, but still rough. Palate seems fairly thin, but for the alcohol presence. A few more years in the bottle would make this better, but based on what’s there now, it’s just fair.

On draught at State College 8th Annual Festival. Aroma was very sweet with an overpowering buttery bouquet. Caramel, too. Like a Jelly Belly buttered popcorn jelly bean, big on diacetyl. Clean golden yellow color with thin white foamy lacing head. Thin watery body with a light carbonation. Taste was overly sugary with some vapory notes. Syrup, buttered caramel popcorn with a mild tang at the end. A lagery sweet finish with mild vapors. Not at all what I was hoping for. I’m going to have to look for this again, maybe in a bottle.

Bottle, thanks jerc. Dark yellow pour, strong white wine like aroma - first hint bottle may be off. Weird white wine like taste, dry citrusy, thin - I didn’t like it at all. Almost a sour like aftertaste. Gotta be off.

This was the highlight of my week. It was definately very oakey flavored with a heavy touch of sweet vanilla. It isn’t as spicey as their Heresy but I find it enjoyable nonetheless. I got this bomber at the NJ chain The Bottle King and unfortunately they had it in the cooler. The alcohol is very evident. I would say this beer is enjoyable but not too complex despite the process used to transform Merry Monks into this brew.

Gold color with a foamy white head. Malty aroma. There seems to be more spice than the Merry Monks and a hint of raisans. Well balanced with sweetness.

I enjoy the regular Merry Monks fairly well but this really improves upon it. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a medium golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma is sweet and tangy with ripe fruits and lemon and a mildly yeasty undertone. The flavor is tangy citrus with sweet light fruits and a noticeably woody element. The finish is woody and tangy. Lovely!
