Honestly did not match well with the oak barrel aging, did not mellow the beer, actually brought out stronger alcohol presence. Pailhead (2610), Allen Park, Michigan, USA

Pours a cloudy orangish-yellow with a small white head. Flavor starts out with some fruit but is mixed with some sourness and tartness. Moderate banana and light apple. Yeasty finish. I don’t detect any woodiness. PWalk (337), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma has some nice hints of oak to go along with what you would normally expect from Merry Monks. There is much the same in the flavor as oaks pervades throughout with a nice smooth bourbon underneath the sweet beer. Finish had a little alcohol burn to it with some bitter notes. Very tasty brew. pineypower (1108), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jul 7, 2005 Pours out a cloudy golden color with a sweet warming aroma and a decent amount of foam. The taste is definitely smoother than Merry Monk’s and has some nice vanilla notes to compliment the beer’s natural flavor of fruit and alcohol. The finish is nice with buttery and creamy notes, a good beer, but I like Insanity and Heresey much better Panzuriel (996), Westerville, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 3, 2005 Hazy golden liquid wiht a moderate amount of white foam. Nose is of sweet malt. some esters and maybe some fruit tones. Taste is a at first sweet but complex flavor that resolves into almost a nutty creaminess towards the end. Texture is full but not heavy. Aftertaste is nice mellowing of the middle and end flavors. Firemoose15 (542), Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 29, 2005 Out of a bottle, aroma very perfumey and woody. Poured a clear off yellow and had a thin white head. Taste was of vanilla, butter, oak barrel and alcohol. Palate was light and finish was dry. Overall good, not my favorite Weyerbacher but as far as a hometown brewery here another solid brew. JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
