This is a monster of complexity and a masterpiece. It pours a clody dirty-yellow (not the most auspicious start) with a good deal of concentric-ring lacing. There’s a big aroma of oak and bourbon-spice. Flavors are reminiscent of both a tripel and a Belgian golden ale, with an intense oakey booziness and subtle notes of raisin, lemon, and the barest trace of farmhouse ale notes and Belgian floral funk. The alcohol presence is just right. Highly recommended. BDR (2168), Roseville, Minnesota, USA

Good bourbon barrel flavor. Some banana. Wonderfully sweet and yeasty. Tastes like a sweet trippel. I likey. badlizard (2380), Berkeley, California, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 21, 2008 vintagecellars. A damn fine beer that should have a higher rating. Similar to Allagash Curieux. Hazy yellow amber with a fizzy white head. Sweet fruit and bourbon aroma. Nice mouthfeel, great grainy belgian taste with a wonderful bourbon flavor and a warm finish. lordeche (397), Quincy, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 13, 2008 Pours light copper with off-white head. Aroma almost reminded me of a lambic- zesty lemon citrus notes melded with some delicious sweet smokey bourbon notes and some caramel and belgian malts coming through. Flavor is quite lemony again with nice subtle whiskey flavors, dried fruit, apple cider, vanilla, peppery spice, and wood. Palate is a little syrupy and finishes dry. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 26, 2008 Courtesy SoLan. Cloudy with yellow-orange hue, soapy white head. Very sweet vinous aroma, candy corn, mild alcohol. Sweet start, slightly sour twang, alcohol more detectable on the taste, some mild spice on the finish along with a citric tone. The tannic elements come out as it warms a bit. SoLan (1427), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 20, 2008 Coutesy puzzl. Orange/gold and an insignificant white head. Aroma of white wine, buttery vanilla oak, honey, floral notes. Similar flavor with a rich malt background and some burbon. Full body, smooth. Solid. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 13, 2008 A very nice and different tripel from my neighbors in Easton. Aroma is pure bourbon and not much else, maybe a hint of vanilla. Pour was a cloudy orange with a one finger off white head. Taste was very different for a tripel. There was a strong bourbon flavor that overpowers the rest. Can pick up some yeast and a hint of caramel malt but this is very one dimensional. Nice change of pace for the style.
