Commercial Description:
Massively big and delicious, QUAD is an elegant and dark ale. Rich with complexity and flavor, try savoring it after a long day or during a fine dinner. You also might enjoy it as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to a dessert, but QUAD stands alone quite well. We recommend enjoying QUAD in a brandy snifter or wineglass so you can drink in the aroma of this fine elixir.

22 fl oz bottle@fonefan/Brugmansia’s Cnudde tasting. Pours clear and golden orange with a fully gone head. Spiced and alcohol heavy aroma. Sweet fruity and caramel malty flavour. Light yeasty and alcohol driven flavour following. Warming finish. Ends very spiced.

I wish this hadn’t been one of the first Weyerbachers I’ve reviewed, because I love this brewery, but this is not one of their better efforts. Deep burgundy pour with a weak head. Intense brown sugar aromas, followed by lots of harsh, sweet/tart brown sugar notes in the flavor. I like it when alcohol makes its presense known, but this is not the gentle wafting sensation i want from alcohol, it’s an assault. (And I’m a fan of beers with even higher ABV’s.) There’s some crabapple, berry, and a little caramel in the background, but if these were just brought forward to mitigate the harshness, this would be a better beer. I’m bringing three other Weyerbachers (all previously tried, and loved) back to the Midwest with me, and I’m sure I’ll give them better reviews.

Pours an elegant dark amber/copper with a small white head that vanishes quickly. Intense aroma of spiced apples, caramel, and alcohol. A nice creamy, heavy body that supports all of the flavors. This is a complex brew. Heavy cider taste, sweet and malty almost candy-like... highly alcoholic candy. This will warm your stomach nicely next to a fire on a cold night.

Red-amber pour with very thin head. Yeast and alcohol on the nose. Taste is fruity with a strong alcohol presence. Not bad, might improve with some aging.

(on bottle, thanx to Yngwie and Gunnfryd) Dried abricot and moulded esters. The taste is malty and full of blackberries. The 11% comes in very fast in the finish and totally ruins the palate, sugars and a burning alcohol all over.
