Commercial Description:
Massively big and delicious, QUAD is an elegant and dark ale. Rich with complexity and flavor, try savoring it after a long day or during a fine dinner. You also might enjoy it as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to a dessert, but QUAD stands alone quite well. We recommend enjoying QUAD in a brandy snifter or wineglass so you can drink in the aroma of this fine elixir.

Let me first spout out a couple a things ’bout this here brewery. First, please change your packaging guys. From a retail perspective, it looks like cheap clip art and has no continuity among the different beers. About their beers- they quality has really been on the up and up oaver the last few years. This one in particular, as well as their fresh from the over Simcoe IIPA, are fantastic. So, having voiced my unwanted opinion about them in general, here is some information and notes about this brew in particular. Pours a nice tawny leather hue that looks weighty in my pretentious goblet. Richness confronts the flavor sensors of the mouth region, bringing bounties of ripe sultanas, juicy malt, lingering brown sugar and tummy-warming alcohol. That’s right, I said tummy. My review, my vocabulary. We got sweet, we got copious amounts of alcohol, we got trouble in a bottle. Let’s put it this way, if ruffies came in 22oz. portions, this is what they would most likely be packaged as. Lord knows I have done myself in on more than one occasion with this bad mother. Tasty. Mean. Let’s do it again.

A very nice red colour when viewed from the side and a lighter orange amber from the top. Very nice aroma banana Belgian yeast and some fruit. The flavor is quite good but there is a certian presence of alcohol but not too much so and it is appropriate for the style. Lively mouthfeel and a nice full fruity feel.

THOUGHTS: A great beer. It’s like quads are the barley wines of the Belgian beers. Easy to drink for an ABV. this high. One of the beers that made me understand that sweet beers are great. I really need to age one of these for a while but I like it so much and never make it much past four months. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a meium to dark orange with a small, off-white head that mostly diminshed. The aroma was light caramel malt, apple, slight cherry and mostly alcohol. The initial flavor was moderately sweet with the finish was heavy to harsh sweetness with an average duration. The body was medium to full, syrupy and slightly dry with fizzy carbontion and a lightly alcoholic finish.

More like a barleywine than a quad I’d say, although the lack of hoppiness wouldn’t support that notion. Interestingly I’ve liked all such beers I’ve had, but this one didn’t leave me craving more. Perhaps the hops? Not really distinguishing in any way but not at all an unpleasant beer to sip on.

Thanks to ( MrBendo ) for trading this one to me. Pours a med / dark copper with a small light tan head. Aroma of boozy ripened banana, metallic malts, yeast and mild spices. As it warmed I got some fermented cherry aromas also. Although the body looks thin for a quad the flavor is very rich. Instant belly warmer. Fermented fruits (banana), malts, heavier spice (than in the aroma), and doughy yeasts. This is a strong one with the alcohol right out there telling you "i’m not hiding, come get me".

Dark red colored beglian style ale with a strong alcohol aroma. The sweet fruit characteristics give this strong ale a pleasant smoothness.

Plum, pear creamy caramel alcohol aroma with overlayers of Belgian yeast product. Delicious ,sugar daddy caramel, toffee, touches of fruit, ,tender sweetness, rich and full bodied, smooth as a prom queens thigh, that alcohol wants to really become a factor as it warms, but the richness of the malt stays on top. Very good
