Commercial Description:
Massively big and delicious, QUAD is an elegant and dark ale. Rich with complexity and flavor, try savoring it after a long day or during a fine dinner. You also might enjoy it as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to a dessert, but QUAD stands alone quite well. We recommend enjoying QUAD in a brandy snifter or wineglass so you can drink in the aroma of this fine elixir.

Bottle: Pours a deep rich brown, not quite mohogany and/or copper color with a toasty just off white head. Aroma is sweet brown sugar, molasses, alcohol, butterscotch, some old stale hard candy. Many of the flavors are similar, only I would generalize the Flavor as brandy and port mixed with a touch of applejuice.

Interesting brew, this pours slightly hazed copper amber, with a light head and an 1/8th-inch retention all the way down the glass. The aroma is spot on for candy Circus Peanuts.... Flavors of wet grains and slight bitters follow an initial citrusy caramel malt front palate. The Circus Peanuts also show up in the mid-palate, along with soft ripe banana notes. The back-palate finishes with a peppered alcohol astringency. There are notes of fruits and tobaccos drenched with dark liquors, alongside light peach-rum notes . A sour dark fruit permeates after the pull. The mouthfeel is thick, robust and syrupy. Overall, this a complex brew, and all the complexities work well. Best served as a dessert aperitif (somewhat commercially suggested). Good job.

Bottle on trade from Frumpty Dumpty. Thanks Ryan. Pours a nice hazy copper color with a medium body. The aroma is of candy and alcohol. Taste is sweet and fruity. Finishes dry with a little bit of a hoppy kick. Nice brew that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Pours a clear copper-orange color with a 1/4" off-white head which fades to a thin wisp. No lacing noted. Huge aromas of rum soaked dark fruits, caramel candy, chocolate covered malt balls, cherries and brown sugar. A hearty blast of alcohol is sensed in the nose. Mouthfeel is full, creamy and smooth with a fine carbonation. Delicious assertive sweet flavors of raisin, toasted malts, toffee, plums, dark rum and fresh bread are detected. The massive alcohol is barely noticed aside from a pleasant warmth which balances out this ale’s sweetness. Seems to have more Barleywine characteristics as opposed to a Belgian Quad. Tasty nevertheless.

WOW! That’s it... My entire review is simply summed up as WOW! ...Oh that’s not enough characters :) okay I’ll write more. I got this beer out and let it warm for an hour on the counter. Served in my snifter glass. Appearance: This is a very noble auburn brown color with a nice 2 finger, solid/tight creamy off-white head. The lacing is impressively heavy. There was an amazing stream of carbonation rising from the middle of the glass that kept feeding the head, which remained frothy through the duration of the beer. Smell: From the moment I cracked the bottle open I got a huge burst of aroma; exceptional! There was an instant onslaught of toasted malts and brown sugar. Browned butter and baked caramel fill the nose as well. There is also a brilliant bouquet of fruity flavors include but not limited to grapes, plums and cherries. Taste: Toasted sweetness galore! Marvelous! As in the aroma, the taste has a strong toasted malt presence. Lots of plums and dark fruits parallel the buttery, sugars; but it is not cloyingly sweet! There is a very mild dryness/bitterness coming from a *very* reserved hop presence and an ABV that you would never know was over 12% through the taste. At the bottom of the glass, it’ll catch up to you. :) There is also a slightly woody character, similar to a Woodford Reserve Bourbon. This beer is magnificently balanced and a true work of art! Mouthfeel: Would I be gushing to call this divine? Every swallow begged for the next sip. The mouthfeel is remarkably smooth with a slick center and slightly crisp edge. The aftertaste reveals a hint of bitter dryness that is just the nudge I needed to put the glass to my lips again. OOPS; now that ABV is making itself known! Drinkability: This is defiantly a nightcap beer. On shear smell, taste and feel I’d give it a 5; but these big beers are far from sessionable. So consider this one a sipping beer and finish the night with it. I highly recommend! Well-done Weyerbacher! Hope this is helpful. Cheers!

Bottle: Courtesy of Eyedrinkale via trade. Fruity aroma with cherry, grape, plum, and raisin with hints of yeast and alcohol. Pours a dark reddish-brown with a small off-white head that quickly fades to a ring. Flavor is vinuous and has lots of dark fruits and a touch of caramel. Moderate raisin and plum in the middle. Finish has a moderate bitterness, light nuttiness, and moderate alcohol flavor and warmth. Definitely needs some more cellaring time. Sticky syrupy mouthfeel. A little too hot right now, but shows promise with age.

Pours out a deep murky brown color with really not much of a head to speak of. Sweet aroma with some notes of burnt fruit. Taste is complex and multi-leveled with nice sweetness alcohol and some raisin. Very good beer

Sweet, strong, but not overwhelming. Makes a very nice dessert or dessert companion. I hope weyerbacher continues to produce this one in coming years.
