Bottle. Big alcohol sweetness. Tons of Belgian candy sugar. Good beer. Better than I expected.

Pours into glass with minimal head, somewhat surprised by the lack of fluff. Smells like sweet malt, sugar, ripe fruit and very gently of hops. Taste is very sweet, leaves a soft sweet aftertaste that doesn’t coat my mouth as much as I was expecting. Very nicely balanced ABV, really didn’t expect 12+%. I’ll sneak up and grab ya! It got easier to drink as the pint went down, (but that could be part of the 12+% as well). Good brew all in all, worth a try, but doesn’t hold the tops in my Quad book. I should have had some chocolate with it!! I think that would have set it off the charts.

great commercial description. It is very thick, syrupy, and sweet. Almost reminds me of a cherry, or apply sweetness. Big aromatic alcohol and sweetness in the nose. I don’t think I paid too much for this one, it’s pretty affordable for what you get. A nice complex quad. Well done.

Bottle via CMUBEERMAN of unknown vintage. At least 4 months old now. The beer pours to a reddish orange body with a thin beige head. The aroma is bananas, white grapes, brown sugar, rice based energy bars. The flavor is sweet but different than most sugars. Starts off as white grapes and changes into a plantain and ripe banana with sweet brown sugar and custard. Perhaps plums as well. There’s some bubblegum that makes me think this is kind of dubbel-ish. The palate is lingering in flavor, no alcohol to be detected. Good mouthfeel. I wish this was more Abt-like and less Quadrupel-like.

Fruity aroma with grape, caramel banana and a touch of alcohol. Amber-orange in color with a very thin head. Hot, very hot with banana, grapes, sweet with brown sugar, tasty but strong. Alcohol is very present. Medium-full body, nice texture. Thanks JPDIPSO for opening this one for us.

Bottle:Cloud copper with a cream colored dense head. Wonderful aromas of alcohol, green apples & prunes. Strong cherry cough syrup flavor, raisins and a little bit of harshness at the end, but overall quite sweet and tasty. Lively carbonation upon hitting the tongue, but besides that - nothing major. Nice alcohol burn on the back of the throat. Thanks Indiana_Red!

Bottle pours a hazy deep caramel coor with a huge off white head that slowly receded leaving thin sticky sheets of lacing. Aroma is very much apples. Like homemade applesauce. more than any other beer I’ve had. Flavor was more musty, dusty belgian notes, with a rather strong alchol flavor. A nice belgian with a kick.

Tosa Tasting - June 24, 2006

This had been on my want list for a while. After having it, I’m not sure I wouldn’t mind another bottle but only after laying it down for a while. I have no idea the age of the one that was opened but it was pretty hot even for a Belgian quad. Still, if the alcohol had time to settle down this would be a nicely balanced beer.

Aroma / Appearance - A tart combination of caramel, toffee, cherries and honey greeted my nose. The wonderfully dense caramel brown body had a weak head which barely covered the top before dying down. It left no trace of having ever existed, swallowed by the rich liquid.

Flavor / Palate - The first thing to hit my overwhelmed senses was hot alcohol. I began to wonder if this was a quad or some form of colored spirits until the sensation finally subsided. Only then was I able to detect a sweet honey flavor mixed with caramel, toffee, cherries, grapefruit and very subtle malts and hops. If only the alcohol didn’t burn so much this would be far more enjoyable. Still, if you are out of antiseptic, try using this instead. It might be able to sterilize the wound and leave you smelling good.
