It’s definitely a medieval tournament blood red. An elegant beer for the aristocracy who are paying for and being entertained by their era’s equivalent of pro football stars. Has a little beige head and, invites you in with fresh baked banana nut bread (medieval style, which baked banana nut bread with Quinoa.) As you drink it, that bread is dunked in butter, toasted in a pan over a light fire (aristocracy can afford pans). Roast malt as thick as a leg of mutton. Like a buxom tract of a medival fiefdom, it’s intoxicating, it grows fruits and nuts, and gives you all you need for a long livelihood. biznizness (948), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA

This beer lacked finish, which is a shame, because it would have been a tremendous beer otherwise. Shout out to Joey, Gene, Ztan, and Jables - my beer bro’s - without them none of this would be possible. RateandPillage (417), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Feb 4, 2006 Pours murky red-brown with little to no head. Sweet and funky aroma. Flavor is medicinal and vegetable in quality. At a group tasting. Something must have been wrong with this bottle. If I try it again with more success, I’ll re-rate. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA

Alot of heat in this one as I found the alcohol present through out. JFURYCAT (791), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 30, 2006 Updated: Apr 2, 20072007 variety: Not as well balanced as last year’s version-noticeably darker and more of a taste punch as far as malts are concerned. It doesn’t have as strong as an aroma as 2006. (I’ll stick with my 2006 ratings but I like the malty kick).
2006 variety: This one took me a few sips to grasp the complex array of malts and fruits (i’m sensing cherries, apples, oranges). The alcohol is very well hidden. I can smell it in the aroma along with what a whiff of malty cherry laden in spices. The only downside seems to be an excess of sweetness which makes it a bit tart. This reminds me of what cotton candy would taste like if it was dipped in brandy. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 14, 2006 Cloudy peach pour. The nose is great on this - deep and complex. A layer of sweet fruit rides on a layer of buttery malts in the aroma - peach, cherry, caramel, butterscotch all make an appearance. Surprisingly little yeastiness - I expected this to be a lot more funky. The mouthfeel is velvety and smooth. Unfortunately, the body is real ciderish - overloaded with fruit sweetness. Caramel apples are strongly present, overtaking everything else. Even so, the insane 12% ABV is hidden quite well throughout. If not for the excessive sweetness in the body, this is pretty fantastic stuff.
