Commercial Description:
Massively big and delicious, QUAD is an elegant and dark ale. Rich with complexity and flavor, try savoring it after a long day or during a fine dinner. You also might enjoy it as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to a dessert, but QUAD stands alone quite well. We recommend enjoying QUAD in a brandy snifter or wineglass so you can drink in the aroma of this fine elixir.

This abbey quad pours a very dense (non-see through) brown color. Small to medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is caramel, brown sugar, raisins and apples. A full bodied Abbey quadruple. Malts are very sweet with lots of caramel and fruit flavors (raisins, cheery, plums and apples) Lots of port wine flavors as well. Brown sugar and molasses. Smooth taste with a nice alcohol burn. This beer really works well as a winter warmer. Nice sipping beer. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet with a touch of alcohol burn.

12-oz. bottle via trade with kramer17801, bottled or at least purchased 10/2000; thanks for the aged brew, it was most savored and appreciated. Pours deep brown, mahagony murky with no head and very little film on top. Port and caramel maple malt aroma, raisins and hoppy nose. Caramel malt (cookie) and port, alcohol flavor, warm body with candied raisin hop finish. Medium to full bodied, warm and very smooth palate.

(Bottle courtesy ’Sephiroth’ Indy tasting 12/10/05) Aroma is sweet yeasty alcohol and dark fruit. Pours a ruby red with medium head. Flavor matches aroma. Palate is smooth and creamy. Last brew of the tasting....whew.

a big thanks goes to kramer17801 for this. from the bottle. poured a a dark amber to brown with a med sized off white head that did leave any lacing. aoma the alcohol comes right out there as I was pouring this into the glass, dark fruits, raisins, malt, caramel, a nice sweetness. flavor, the dark fruits came out before I got the alcohol burn, than malts, sweet. a very good beer

Murky, red-brown clay color. Must have poured the yeast - either that, or Weyerbacher let their hyper filter take the month off. No head, but there’s a renegade bubble that just broke the surface. Boozy cherry pits lead the aroma, conjoined with port, souring red grapes mixed with a mash of concords, dynamic fruit punch and juniper berries. Could be complexity, could be complacency. Flavor is actually an upswing. Left-over black raspberries, black cherry juice and Marcella melded with port. Boisterous pomegranate kernels pinched between incisors, and prunes and burnt brown sugar for a dash of authenticity. Faint attempt at a palate personality that then transitions to a mild, bourgeois presence, which neither intimidates nor is worthy of neglect. Lacks carbonation, but I saw that one coming, with a finish that’s admonishingly sparse. One of this brewery’s better beers. Thanks for the bottle, tpkenned!

Bottle: Poured a hazy deep amber/copper color ale with a medium dark foamy head with pretty good retention. Aroma of rich sweet malt with gigs and dry raisins. Taste is a bit sweeter then expected with lots of figs and raisins with a nice shot of brown sugar. Body is quite thick with low carbonation. Very interesting (and different) take on the style.

Pours dark reddish brown with a thin, white head. Sweet caramel-like aroma mixed with alcohol. Taste is of caramel, furit, malts and alcohol. Wish I had another one.

Cloudy brown color with a very small white head. A bit too sweet overall. A strong beer at the expense of taste
