Commercial Description:
Massively big and delicious, QUAD is an elegant and dark ale. Rich with complexity and flavor, try savoring it after a long day or during a fine dinner. You also might enjoy it as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to a dessert, but QUAD stands alone quite well. We recommend enjoying QUAD in a brandy snifter or wineglass so you can drink in the aroma of this fine elixir.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Slightly hazy chestnut colour with a tiny off-white head. Vinous port-like nose with lots of alcohol. Notes of dates and overripe fruit, but in general it’s not an overly complex beer. 011005

Strong alcoholic nose followed by hints of berries and dark fruits. Amber to reddish body, small white head. Sweet and fruity flavor, classic quad flavors, very strong alcohol flavor, which makes this beer overly hot and unbalanced. Not very complex because of the overpowering alcohol. Thanks The_Beer_God for this one.

12oz. bottle. Murky dark amber color with a small beige head. Sweet malty aroma of raisins and brown sugar. Alcohol hits you on first sip! Once you get past that, the flavor of the dried fruits, malt and brown sugar kick in. Good, but just not to my taste.

12 Oz Bottle. Deep ruby nut brown. Super murky, pouring like soup. Topped with a thin line of creamy off-white head. I don’t know exactly why, but this murky rust brown color, really makes me want to drink a beer. Blossoming strong aroma of fresh cut Granny Smith apples, raisins and figs macerated in brandy, plums, sweet brown sugar, molasses and ginger, all over a luscious cream and strawberry mixture, with the hint of necessary biscuit. A very alcoholic run of similar flavors, unfortunately for some reason I’m stuck on the alcohol. Flavor possesses more cream, mixed with raspberry, coriander, a hint of pineapple and lechee, yogurt with strawberries on the bottom, black currant, eggnog, and bourbon. Man, I love Quad flavors, they’re so rich and intense and dessert like. The alcohol makes this one a little hot and slightly unbalanced, but not overly so. Finish is a lingering run of pears and wheat. Some graham cracker, white Russian with lots of kahlua, grapes, and mango chutney. The flavor is very complex, but presented on one plane. Finish is lingering and sticky, mostly sweet like cake frosting and caramel. This beer is fantastic! Thanks much lamas!

Pours a hazy golden brown, smells of fruit, the flavor is very fruity, smooth, and warming. The alcohol really comes into play in the flavor and afterwards. A very nice brew.

Clear and amber with a small fizzy off white head. Smells sweet with hints of carmel and butterscotch, nice malty undertones. Medium bodied with a sryupy texture, flat carbonation and a metallic finish. Flavor held tones of carmel and malt, with a touch of fruit. Not great but certianly above average.

Murky dark red-orange brown color with a film of white head. Biscuit malt, alcohol, and some moderate estery spiciness in the aroma. Candi sugar and dark fruit flavors, crushed by huge alcohol character. Mouthfeel is sticky and very hot.

Bottle (12oz). Poured murky coppery-orange with a small, reluctant off-white head. Lovely subtle sweet aroma, fresh ripe orange/grapefruit, candyish malt, sweet dough yeast, plenty of alcohol, with ketones and hints of sweetened tropical fruit cocktail and orchids. Taste is much like a weak-bodied over-alcohol-amped commercial belgian quad - it’s sweet and fruity and floral, yes, but the alcohol burn swats any other flavours down before they hit your palate. Harshly alcoholic and very flat mouthfeel. Interesting, a valiant attempt, but not all that good - less candy/alcohol and more yeast complexity in the taste please!
