Commercial Description:
Massively big and delicious, QUAD is an elegant and dark ale. Rich with complexity and flavor, try savoring it after a long day or during a fine dinner. You also might enjoy it as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to a dessert, but QUAD stands alone quite well. We recommend enjoying QUAD in a brandy snifter or wineglass so you can drink in the aroma of this fine elixir.

A truly yummy beer and one of the reasons I wish this style were more widely brewed. Tastes of raisins, figs, apricots, nuts, cane sugar and maple syrup with a very nice warming finish. Although the alcohol is noticeable, it is not nearly as pronounced as I was expecting.

Very sweet nose with hints of dates and raisins- alcohol undertone-very slight. Dark amber in color with very slight haze. Heavy, but not too thick. Sweet and malty flavor. I wasn’t aware of the alcohol content until I looked it up on the brewery website- not obnoxious indeed! Great sipping beer- enjoyed the changes in taste and texture as it warmed up in my glass.

Dark mahogany body with small beige head. Sweet nose, alcohol, fruit, yeast, malt. Syrupy in the mouth. The flavor was sweet and malty. Not bad but not great.

Texture sirupeuse, Corps d’épaisseur moyenne, faible carbonatation. Bouteille, Spirit Haus, Amherst, Juin 2005.

Pours a three-finger light tan head that slowly and leaves a good lace. Cloudy amber color. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Sweet malty nose. Starts with a nice mix of malt and hops, some plum flavor and the ABV is in the background, finish is watery/metallic but not totally unpleasant. Bought over one year ago . . . $2.65 for a 12oz bottle from Vintage Cellar Blacksburg, VA.

Ruby body with large faded khaki head. Big yeasty aroma. Apricots, grapes and prunes. Sugary malt. Bit too much alcohol presence.

Fruity, prune juice aroma, some play-doe, nutmeg and coriander notes; not as chewy and viscous as one might expect, immediate metallic off-flavors followed by rather modest-for-the-style caramal, port, and cola flavor, a hint of shoe-leather and tobacco; welcome and substantial late bitterness; I can’t believe this is an12.1%ABV drink, the alcohol is there but not obnoxious; a little rough around the edges, but overall, this is a well done doubledubbel.
