Spices and darker fruits blend with the alcohol warmth. Great for a special occasion. JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

Strongish flavor... some woody fruity hops that have dry earthy notes and a sweet backing. Interesting "quad"... maybe an American version, and a nice change of pace from American-brewed belgian styles.

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 18, 2005 The nose is very alcoholic and malty with a touch of raisins in this shiny dark auburn beer. There is a light head atop this colouring. The nose opens up into a smooth body with very little carbonation to speak of. Sweet and malty with a bit of alcohol. Not very deep, a straightforward, sweet quad. KAggie97 (2476), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 18, 2005 Aroma has hints of oak-aged whiskey. Pours a dull, smoky, cloudy amber. Palate is a tad rubbery, but not offensive. Flavor is an intense rush of sour citrus. A good beer, but the flavor tapers off too quickly. Hints of lemon as it warms. Thanks to Kevin for sharing. | 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Jul 17, 2005 PIcture perfect dark dark red color with traces of head around the edges of the glass. It was on the cool side when it was opened, so we let it warm up a little. Deep complex aroma that’s like edible rubies mixed in a bready bread with plums and raisins. Sippin’ smooth! Alcohol-ness that’s light, but is noticible. The plummy-ness plays on my tongue before it dives down my throat. This is a great beer! Panzuriel (995), Westerville, Ohio, USA

Nose is a tangy and hoppy mixture of aromas. Flavor is a dense combination of wheaty, bready, mildly hoppy and some fruit tastes. Body is medium. Finish is a sweet fading into the grain flavor. Not as good as some of the Quads from Belgium, but still a very solid beer. Pours a rich red amber color with a small white head that left some lacing. Aroma of dark fruits, sugar, red wine, alcohol, apple and honey. Flavor is sweet, slightly sour, yeast, light alcohol, various fruits and some spices. The flavors are well balanced and blend nicely. For the high alcohol content it is well hidden in the flavor.
