jon112981 (327), Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA Sep 1, 2008 Bottle. A very dark beer with hints of read in the tan head. While it says Raspberry, this tastes like a stout. A very good balance but would have liked a little more raspberry flavor. Beer is sweet but not overpowering. ldmp365 (6), USA does not count Aug 31, 2008 Bottle from Whole Foods. Head is a little darker and has hints of red. Dark brown. Good balance of raspberry and stout. Could taste malt and chocolate underneath. Interesting aftertaste, but not bad. EithCubes (1804), Indiana, USA Aug 15, 2008 Bottle from Bendo - thanks! Raspberry nose mostly overwhelms the stouty character, this smells like a sweet fruit beer with roast and chocolate undertones. And a touch of alcohol. Pitch pour with a lovely, creamy, lacing, dense light brown head. Taste is dryer than expected, raspberry tones are muted (but still there!) in favor of dark milk chocolate and smooth roast. Funny how something can be this two-faced. Extremely creamy medium body with just a touch of prickling razz. Just the right fruity accents on the heavy malt base. Balanced and dignified, as yummy as a standalone as after dinner. Alcohol is hidden better than Weyerbacher usually manages. Fresh-faced and glowing youngster that would be a winter staple if I had easier access to it. Dark Horse needs to make one of these to compliment their Tres. bierkoning (4731), La Tropica, Netherlands Aug 10, 2008 Bottle. Black and opague. Chocolate and raspberry in the aroma. Roasted malt, milk, raspberry, coffee and dark chocolate in the flavor. Tasty, well balanced and well rounded. MrChopin (165), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 2, 2008 Pours dark brown with a small beige head. A cohesive nose of raspberries, licorice, and roast. Carbonated, somewhat thin-sized body with flavors of roast and a medicinal raspberry, though the medicinal qualities have faded at room temp. An ok beer, but only slightly reminiscent of an imperial stout, and I prefer it when cough syrup makes me feel better.
