jason (1509), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 25, 2008 Multiple samples at the Weyerbacher Release Party. Also thanks to whoever opened a bottle to share in the parking lot! Nice aroma of oak, raspberries. Taste is wood, oak, raspberries and other berries with a some sour and funk kicking in near the end of each sip. Slight alcohol noted but not nearly for who strong in alcohol the beer is. Bottles should age well.
ratman197 (2358), Arvada, Colorado, USA Oct 10, 2008 750 ml bottle poured a cloudy pinkish amber with a lingering ring of off white foam. Aromas of sour raspberry, barnyard, straw and light leather. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a tart finish. Flavors of sour raspberry, barnyard, light leather and light spice with a smooth lingering tart finish. General_Gao (2575), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Oct 1, 2008 Bottle shared by pepsican. Thanks! Poured a lovely murky orange-red color topped with a white head. Pleasant aroma of cherry, red wine vinegar, oak, and mixed berries. Medium bodied with mild acidity. Sweet and sour all at once. Quite a battle. Tasted of berries, red wine vinegar, and wood. Nice beer. fredandboboflo (627), East Setauket, New York, USA Sep 28, 2008 Bottle from 08 Night of the Funk. Well, started off with a wonderful aroma of huge fruits, semi-tart, semi-sweet raspberries and strawberries. Flavor was little more than alcoholic fruits though. Grating on the tongue. There’s stuff here to appreciate, but it it didn’t come together very well. LilBeerDoctor (635), East Setauket, New York, USA Sep 28, 2008 Bottle sampled on 09/26/08 at Night of the Funk. Pours a beautiful light red with a white head. Aroma of super super tart raspberry. Flavor has a nice raspberry presence with nice sour notes. Very full bodied. No alcohol presence, but this is pretty heavy and definitely could be overbearing in full portions. Still quite a tasty fruity sour ale! RCL (1075), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA Sep 27, 2008 Overpowering sour cherry aroma (maybe raspberry, now that I read the description, but I’m sticking with my original notes). Drier flavor dominated by cherry skins. Rather rough on the finish.
