Bottle: Poured a deep brown color dunkel with a nice foamy head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of banana bread and caramel is very enticing and more enjoyable then I had expected. Taste is a nice mix between some banana ester with lightly sweet caramel and that distinctive German yeast. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no alcohol was apparent. Very well done with loads of character and some very good balance.

dark caramel and coffee flavor, sweet and very earthy- I thought I was drinking a Belgian Abbey dubbel. Nutty and sweet aftertaste, like baked rye bread. Fantastic.

pours a nice dark brown with a thick head. aroma is strong with wheat and sweet malts. notes of dark fruit, citrus, and some spices stand out. on the palate, it is lighter than expected. overall, a pretty good beer, just not a favorite.

Pours a dark hazy chestnut brown color with slight amber/mahogany edges an a one finger foamy beige head that quickly settles into a thin ring. Not much in the way of lacing. Dark malt aroma with lots of chocolate, caramel and hazelnut accompanied by hints of spicy,peppery clove, citrus peel notes and ripe banana. Medium bodied with some smooth silky chocolate and caramel malt character but the ripe banana and clove flavors are very prominent. Slight citrus peel notes and some subtle hops which really come through in the finish. Pretty quaffable with not much detectable alcohol warmth.

pours out dark honey gold with a thin gray head that was bubbly and fell rather fast. it has a dark ruby brown body with very little lacing. it has a really sweet caramel sugary scent that reminds me of some candy, and maybe a sweet red wine grape aroma also. it has moderate carbonation and a nice soft mouthfeel. it has a strong malt presence and caramel and toffee. not bitter at all in my opinion and the aftertaste is really pleasent and not lingering on and overpowering my senses.

Pours mahogany with a tan head. Smells of sweet wheat, some clove, some banana, caramel, earthy. Tastes spicy and sweet with some dark fruity hints dominating.

Enjoyed from a 12oz bottle in a pub glass. The beer pours a light to medium brown color with a light tan head. The nose is a tribute to the ester profile thrown by the yeast. Strong notes of tropical fruits come through, as does a bit of clove, but not as much as in some styles. One item that separates the beer from the traditional aroma profile of hefeweizens is the malt presence that also evidences itself toward the end of the aroma. The palate is slightly less complex and somewhat more rough around the edges than the nose initially would seem to indicate. There is a distinct and slightly grainy malt character that falls off in the face of the moderate to strong ester profile. The alcohol is slightly evident, but does not take over the show. Bitterness levels are barely perceptible. Overall, not a favorite, but reasonably well-crafted.
