11026 (1886), USA Oct 5, 2005 Bottle from Belmont Station. Pours a clear, medium golden color. No head forms. Very sparse, delicate carbonation. Aroma is indeed musty and horsey. Semi-dry, not really bone puckering dry but enough that you notice. Sour/sweet apple flavor that battles the dryness and a hint of alcohol. Just doesn’t seem to flow very well and blend. TAR (1995), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA Dec 16, 2003 Pale golden. Headless. Gigantic musty horseblanket aroma. Very leathery with a flourishing white oak character. Wax and juicy apples underneath. Brushing carbonation. Musty and grainy initially with a faint tannic note in the middle pursued by musty oak flavors and plump apple hints. It showcases some lovely tartness which keeps the leather and brett notes at bay. Finishes extremely dry with a grainy, musty edge and a perpetual medicinal character. Lingering apple notes lurk under the huge brett notes. Certainly a Cider worth examining from all angles. ciderguy (97), Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 20, 2003 One of the few domestic ciders I've tried that does a very good job replicating the dry and subtle sweetness of traditional English ciders. The nose is rich and full of apple aroma while its mildly bubbly. Its has a true cask taste that will follow you for a while. Some might find this a bit strong (like myself), but after a couple of sips its not too difficult to get past. This is a little difficult to find as it appears to only be sold in Oregon, but it can be ordered from their website so longas you live in certain states. Worth trying if you can find.
