Fin (2342), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Jul 5, 2008 Cask gravity at Haddenham Beer Festival, Haddenham, Bucks, 05-07-08 Pours black with no head. Coffee and smoky nose, unlike others here I was very surprised by the bitterness and lack of sweetness, also got the taste of coffee granules in my mouth, I really liked this. harrisoni (5331), Ashford, Kent, England Jun 6, 2008 Cask gravity at Reading BF 08. Black with dark brown edges, thin beige. It’s quite a bit of ashtray. Bit smokey. Bit grainy, bit dry. Peaty even. It’s not bad. Going a bit flat in condition maybe. fonefan (4850), Ulfborg, Denmark Mar 5, 2008 Cask (handpump) @ New Oxford, Manchester M4, UK. Clear dark red brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, smoke. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft - flat. (200108) hughie (2251), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England Feb 16, 2008 Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Dark red brown with a small off white head. Promising ashtray and rotted bark aroma. Taste has chocolate malt and toasted nut, but also an artificial backgrond that reminds me of paint. Some bitterness. Sorry, this just doesn’t work.
