White Winter Blueberry Mead

Bluish color with an aroma of blueberry, mildly sweet orange blossom honey, and some yeastiness. Flavor has some light blueberry, orange blossom and blueberry/wildflower honeys and a yeasty bite. OK, but they could have done much better here.

2009 Peoria International Beer Fest. Pours a very nice clear, red and brown color with no head. Aroma is very sweet with blueberry, orange and a light alcohol notes. Flavor has blueberry up front and a wine middle with a very nice alcohol ending. Overall the flavors melded very nicely and produced a very tasty mead.

Peoria Beerfest. Sample pour. Sweet, blueberry aroma. Nice flavor- sweet, some syrup. Enjoyable.

Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Clear light putple color, no head. Light blueberry aroma, some odd clove-like spice notes. Lighter palate - mild berry taste, a little dry on the back end.

Courtesy TheCheeseMan. The still, clear body pours the color of rose wine. Thin legging drips down the side of the glass. Aromas are obviously blueberry-centric, with fresh floral honey notes backing up the fleshy fruit. There is a wisp of alcohol detectable on the nose. Flavors are semi-sweet for a mead, to the point of being almost vinous, with fresh blueberry and light honey notes working well together. As the appearance foreshadows, the body is a bit on the light side. This is one of the drier meads that I’ve experienced. Interesting stuff.

Thanks to The Cheeseman for this! Pours a blood orange color. The smell is sweet honey and peaches. Thin bodied. Flavor is similar to a desert wine mixed with honey.

ABR 2008. Aroma of blueberry, honey, and a bit of apple. Flavor is sweet with a nice palate.

Small pour (approximately 3 oz.), on tap at Gitchee Gumee Brewfest in Superior, WI on 4-5-08. This was the ninth of 12 beers that I rated (out of about 20 total beers that I tried). Of course, this one technically is a mead, not a beer. Pours a clear copper with no head. Wine, fruit (especially blueberry), and salt scents in the sweet aroma. Tastes sweet and fuity, like a very fruity wine. Honey flavor. Light body. Smooth in the palate. No carbonation. I am by no means a mead expert, so I really don’t know what I’m talking about here. I like this product, but I don’t love it.
