Just enough blue berry to make it tasty, but not so much to overwhelm the drink. White Winter is really good at making meads. detroiter (958), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 11, 2007 Pours a crystal clear crimson color, with brief ’legs’ of thick coating on the sides of the glass. Thick sweet winey aroma - like a sweetish ruby port.
Sweet full flavor - very fruity - more like a sweet plum than a tangy blueberry. A dollop of clover honey accompanied by tangy acidity in the finish. Full bodied. Served at room temperature in a champagne flute. A nice sipper for dessert. JK (2961), Richfield, Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 9, 2005 One of the highlights of the 2005 ABR. There is a huge and pleasant blueberry aroma. The mead is pink. This is very sweet with no flavor of honey at all; light blueberry and some sugar. Great for sipping. Dry finish. This is not as sweet as some meads. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 21, 2007 During May ’07 brewpub tour, stopped at the winery in Iron River, WI. Pours a deep ruby-pink color wine with pink highlights at edge of glass. Aroma has blueberries and just a touch of sweet light honey. Very fruity. Flavor is mostly blueberries with a hint of honey as a sweet aftertaste kicks in. Palate is semi-sweet and a little syrupy. A nice compliment to a breakfast pancakes and blueberry syrup. Pours a very nice clear, red and brown color with no head. Aroma is very sweet with blueberry, orange and a light alcohol notes. Flavor has blueberry up front and a wine middle with a very nice alcohol ending. Overall the flavors melded very nicely and produced a very tasty mead. JMerritt (1320), Macomb, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 14, 2004 Sampled at the Peoria Int'l Beer Festival. Red grape colored. Head is very thin, and eventually drops to nothingness. Blueberry aroma is rather mild. Tart flavor, full of fresh, ripe blueberries. You can almost feel the texture of the blueberry skins as you drink. Finish is sweet and nearly malty. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA
