| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 2, 2006 Bottle acquired in trade with The_Enemy (thanks!). Poured a deep amber color with a small sized off white head. Some larger particles. Aromas of honey, oak, and some dark fruits. Tastes of stronger honey and oak. I didn’t get the Oxidization that Eric did (I think he planted it in Tom’s brain). Eric’s new name is Mr. Oxidization... CaptainCougar (5545), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 12, 2007 Bottle sampled on 8/5/06: Mostly still, viscous dark copper appearance has a thin, wispy-lacing coating of off-white head. Has a nice, complex sweet aged malt and dark honey aroma with some dark fruity notes. Starts with a sweet complex dark caramel and oaky fruity body with some warming alcohol toward the finish. A very enjoyable, complex mead. ¾ (5011), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 13, 2007 Sampled from a 12oz bottle shared by kramer17801. BIg time yeast in the nose, with a heavy dose of brown sugar, honey, some heavy roast, and toasted grains. Carbonation is heavy, making the body frothy up front and more coarse and rough in back. Some interesting plum and date flavors as well. Very weird, but very good. Cornfield (4981), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 2, 2007 Interesting drink. It pours a clear, deep brownish amber with a creamt light tan head. Kind of smells like a fruit liquer, sweet with honey and dark fruits, woody with a touch of ash. The flavor is dark pulpy fruits blended with honey and oak. Not bad. Odd, but with "only" a 10% ABV, it seems to warm almost instantly.

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Mar 26, 2003 Chestnut color with only a few small bubbles floating on top a thick appearing liquid. Malt and alcohol aroma. Smooth feel. Heavy and warming alcohol shows up and demands to be recognized. Mild malt and touch of woody flavors. Way over the top in alcohol flavors. This is a true winter warmer. This might be great if you add some fruit, spice and warm it up. Othewise it lacks flavors to backup alcohol. Ernest (4515), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 31, 2004 Head is initially small, fizzy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is
hazy dark brown, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (burnt
caramel, molasses), with notes of sherry, alcohol, raisin, apple/pear.
Flavor is heavily sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is
moderately sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium to full
body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic.
Interesting and enjoyable, actually...if you like the oxidized/sherry
aroma (I don’t particularly, but the other components are nice so
overall it’s pleasant). Think old ale mixed with Polish mead, throw in a
dash of cider, and you’ll be in the right ball park. Neat. heemer77 (4312), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 25, 2006 I got a bottle of this in Madison. Drank at Noogfest 2006. The body was dark amber with no head. The aroma was brandy with dry honey and apples. A nice dry yet fruity smell. The taste was honey with the dry oak character up front. There was also a hint of smoke. The thin body made this very drinkable. Interesting.
