Commercial Description:
Brewed for Whole Foods. Old Plowshare is a full-flavored Celtic style Stout. Smooth and firm-bodied with the bold flavor notes of dark roasted malts. Because Old Plowshare is organic it remains true to the time-honored Irish tradition of respect for natural ingredients. A great pub classic or the perfect Black and Tan.

Pours very dark mahogany, can see red highlights and red coming through when held up to a light. Great color, with a quickly disappearing small white head even after a hard pour. Light bodied with roasty malts and hints of cocoa. The body is a little lighter than I prefer but it’s a solid stout. Nice coffee bitterness at the end. I wouldn’t buy a 4-pack of the stuff, there’s better 6 packs available for the same price.

From oaktree 12oz poured kind of a pale brown , at least at first , then settled to a dark brown body with a creamy head that faded fast. Nose was burnt coffee and caramel. There is a underlying sweetness to this, and a pleasant coffee after taste. Good solid stout.

Bottle: Pours a dark brown with a medium tanned head. Aroma is rich with coffee, mocha, and roasted tones. Flavor is roasty with cocoa, light chocolate, and lingering bitters. One of the better organic brews I’ve sampled to date.

bottle poured into a snifter is dark brown bordering on black in color with minimal carbination and slight lacing. aroma of coffee, chocolate, malt, caramel, and light roast. flavor is light in mouth feel for the style, malted but not bitter, and finishes with a coco chocolate flavor. taste is very simple, three ingredients water, malt, and hops. another good organic, very raw tasting flavor, i like the simplicity of this.

Nearly Black with ruby/brown accents. Average head. Aroma has some cocoa and dark malt flavors and it is slightly buscuity. Taste is of roasted malts and some cocoa. A little weird in the after taste.

Dark brown medium bodied stout sporting a thin beige head. Chocolate, roasted malts higher alcohol in this overall Dry Stout. Picked Old Polwshare up @ Total Wine in Cherry Hill, NJ. There was no mention of it being brewed for Whole Foods on the label.

This beer pours a dark brown with an allright head that faded after some time. It has a smell of olive, and mild fruits mainly berrys. As you drink it there is initialy flavor of berrys on the sides of your mouth and a nice roasted finish. It is an alright beer consideinr it is completly organic and all.
