Commercial Description:
Brewed for Whole Foods. Old Plowshare is a full-flavored Celtic style Stout. Smooth and firm-bodied with the bold flavor notes of dark roasted malts. Because Old Plowshare is organic it remains true to the time-honored Irish tradition of respect for natural ingredients. A great pub classic or the perfect Black and Tan.

plain, generic, everyday stout cheap, sort of very dry with an astringent aftertaste OK to drink, nothing to cheer about.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a pretty, clear mahogany with a warm, reddish glow and an off-white head. Coffeeish, malty nose. Medium body with lots of roasted and slightly burned malts. Distinct coffee flavours. Bitter finish from the burned malts. 060706

Dark brown, ruby color, tan head, nice lacing. Nose of light lactose, creamy roast and sweet mocha chocolate. The flavor is balanced, nice snappy acidity and dryness accentuated by the full body and roasty character. A bit rustic and definitely not too clean, which adds a nice chewyness and richness. I really like this one. Finishes balanced.

Smells like chocolate cereal - cocoa puffs or krispies. Bad label, nigh opaque dark brown black. California squat micro bottle. Dry, very drinkable, dark cocoa, faint coffee, roasty, light nutty sweetness. Fizzy, medium/medium light mouthfeel. Some oxidized, leathery whiffs in the high palate. Slightly acidic, but does well in session. Nothing too complicated, but it has a somewhat complex flavor profile.

(bottle - 12 oz) Dark brown with red highlights and a nice and puffy tan head. Aroma is very rich and roasty with some nice mocha notes underneath. Roasted chocolate malts dominate the beginning of the taste with a nice roasted and toasted middle and a bittersweet chocolate and coffee finish. A very nice and easy drinking stout.
