Commercial Description:
Brewed for Whole Foods. Old Plowshare is a full-flavored Celtic style Stout. Smooth and firm-bodied with the bold flavor notes of dark roasted malts. Because Old Plowshare is organic it remains true to the time-honored Irish tradition of respect for natural ingredients. A great pub classic or the perfect Black and Tan.

A great stout, I love the use of oraganic ingrediants. Dark roasted coffee, thin but not watery. A great addition

(bottle) deep black with nice tan head and some lace. Not a lot of aroma-roast malt in what there is. Flavor is bitter roasted coffee

12 oz bottle. Deep brown in color with no head. Roasty and malty aroma. Hoppy malty flavor. Chocolatety notes. Finish is roasty. Medium bodied. Smooth. Decent beer.

12 oz bottle. Small tan head and jet black color. Aroma is light coffee and black licorice. Taste is three day old espresso with a decent hop bite. Smooth and dry with bittersweet chocolate. Tastes like Old Rasputen Light.

Bottle, from Cary Wholefoods. Ok nose, sweet & roasty. Cocolate, little seltzer/chaulky, berry, grape. Clean orangy brown color, small had that faded to a ring with minor lacing. Bitter sweet flavor, like aroma. Nice dry chocolate taste, Little winey & chaulky. Medium body, lite creamy oily mouthfeel, bitterdry finish. A tasty , easy to drink, dry stout.

Brew is light chestnut in color with a well retained beige colored head. A bit light in color for a stout. Aroma is pretty solid, with toasted nuts, cream, and some coffee in the background. Flavor is pretty tasty. Coffee, chocolate, cream. The finish is dry and bitter. I don’t think the palate is thin. This is a dry stout, not an imperial. Good beer.

The aroma is coffee with sugar and chocolate. The appearance is deep red/brown with a small head. The flavor has coffee, roasted malt, alcohol, and cola. The palate is thin considering it’s a stout. The aftertaste is bitter. The beer is drinkable but not an outstanding example of the style.

Pours clear dark brown with no head at all. Aroma is light roasted malts and chocolate, mild. Taste is mostly the same, but accompanied by a strong bitterness due to hops and metallics. Body is way too thin. Drinkable.
